If your going to go through the work of swaping intakes, at the minimum id go with an explorer intake.

You can pick up a Explorer 5.0 intake for around $100, that would be a big improvement over stock or ported stock intake.

The upper intakes were different. The 86 had a 58mm throttle body opening. In 87 it was enlarged to 63mm. Good to know when porting for a 65mm throttle body. Here are a few different part numbers.

The lower intake were pretty much the same from 86-93. The only change was the location of the part number itself and a little surface detail between the injector ports.

+1

I got Explorer intake for our 91 GT and works great plus easy swap. Only thing was a bit pain was drilling ACT sensor hole on #5 runner unless you get relocation kit.
