Use BBK Catted X Pipe with Boost or O/R/X?

After months of work, I'm finally putting the finishing touches on my car before dyno day. I'm down to the last piece...bbk off road x pipe or bbk catted x pipe? I have both and just need to make a decision before tuning. As far as the catted pipe goes, my main concern is whether or not the old used bbk cats with an unknown amount of miles are going to clog up or melt down, or even just create unnecessary stress on the engine while under boost. My main concern for the o/r/x pipe is noise and possibly having to swap pipes for inspections every couple of years which I'm assuming could require a separate tune altogether? I've read posts of builds pushing upwards of 500hp through catted pipes with no issues and I've read others where the cats disintigrated or melted under boost causing all kinds of trouble. If it matters, this is a full bolt on build with a stock engine, pushing maybe 380rwhp through long tubes and whatever mid pipe goes on. Thanks for your input, happy driving!

How old are they? They aren’t going to cause a restriction unless they fall apart. With excess fueling they will get clogged and heat up. If you’re concerned with being too loud, get another set of mufflers that are quieter.

Thanks for chiming in. As for age, I have no clue. I bought the catted x pipe and long tubes from a salvage yard. I'm thinking that I'll pull the catted pipe and scope the cats, see what it looks like in there. However, the more I read about cat failures with boost, the more I'm leaning towards putting on the off road pipe just to have peace of mind. My current mufflers are open straight through and sound A LOT like magnaflows. Who makes quiet mufflers?

I know a couple people running Walker Ultra flows or whatever on sn95forums. They’re pretty tame. Borla has a couple different models that are tame too.

Right on, Thanks for the info. I've never heard of the Walkers, I'll check those out! I'm not sure how loud my setup will be with my SRS catback but after hunting through 8,000 youtube videos to find 4 that have very similar builds, I'd say there is a good chance it's going to be fairly tolerable at low rpms and flat out obnoxious on top. Guess I'll find out soon😁
