Our sixxers are even firing engines. Straight pipes are a great choice for us.I don't think the v6 engine is meant to run well if you do not have the sides balanced (X pipe, H pipe, something like that where the pressure balances out). I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure I remember reading this a while back when looking into the v6 engines. You could ditch the muffler(s) though.
click my cam video, thats my car with cutouts openi think i'll take the muffler off this saturday and run it all weekend just to see how i like it. i'm sure it wont be louder than the ricers i hear runnin around with fart cannons and such.
see that sounds pretty awesome. i doubt i could get away with running that all the time though. did you have the cats on for that?
from what i've read up on, the cats restrict the flow of exhaust. so you could take them off and it would sound a whole lot more loud. i think...will cats make the sound like deeper and more rumbly or would no cats do that better? and how much torque would you lose?
i would take the cats off but i think im gonna get stationed in california when i get out of boot camp so i dont wanna mess with that now. if i took the cats off and ran it straight, wouldn't that hurt the engine? i read somewhere that taking off the cats causes the engine to lose backpressure (not sure what that is)Correct. Depending on the rest of your exhaust system that may be a loud, raspiness, or, more preferably, a loud, throaty sounds. LT headers and something like Flow 40's will give you the closest to that. Most people who upgrade exhaust go catless as long as they don't have to pass emissions.
