I know there has been many other posts regarding this but I feel confused still. The part I'm not grasping is everyone says remove the valve covers and you can move the cylinder to TDC and even fill the cylinder with rope to help hold the valaves, got that part. This is where I'm confused. Do the cams stay bolted in while I go through all cylinders? If they dont how do you keep the timing correct when rolling the motor over to get to the other cylinders?

You keep the cams on and everything. As you crank the motor over by hand. You will have opportunities to remove rollers. Remove a roller and your valves will stay shut. Then attach you air supply and the valves will be forced shut by the air. That's when you can use a spring compressor to remove your valve keepers and springs. Then you have access to your valve stem.(good opportunity to upgrade valve springs and also cam the car.)
