So, the oil pressure light went on in that stupid pre-computer warning light pack on my 89 GT. Nothing's wrong, plenty of pressure and oil is topped up. Car runs great so I'm assuming it's the idiot light pack. Does anyone know if you can disconnect this thing without confusing the computer? Hate to put black tape over it :smile2:

The 'check oil' light comes on when you are low on oil, not pressure. If that light is on but the stick reads full, the oil level sender on the side of the oil pan, or the oil level relay could be bad. The relay is up under the dash near the steering column, but cant remember where exactly. As for the oil pressure, there is no light for that, just the gauge. The computer does not monitor the oil in any way.

^^ Agree^^

This is the part fb93 is referring to::
Low Oil Level Sensor. The sensor has 1 wire connected to it and this wire is part of the O2 sensor wiring harness.
