as the title says. I just picked up a gun safe through rural king. I know its small but it serves it purpose since I only really have 3 .22 rifles from 50's~60's handed down to me and 4 shot guns. I didn't know what to use cause I was going to buy one at rural king when I bought the safe but I was confused on what to use.

what I was looking at:

my safe:

its fire rated for 1200* for 25 minutes and no water protection for it. it is in my bedroom so I think its safe from being flooded. just big enough to hold the guns so I figured that was a good place to start.

I got a bunch of the big desiccant packs (5" inch square) and threw a couple in the backs of each of my safes. Been in there a few years and seems to be working great.

You can "recharge" them by putting them in the oven for about 30 minutes at 250 or just sit them out the sun for a while.

I'm using DampRid. Bought a 2-pack at Rural King.
