I'm looking at picking up at CBR 600 as a first bike. The guy wants $800 for it. The bike looks to be in decent shape and has the following.

I have a stage 3 jet kid in the carburetors aftermarket D&D exhaust has aftermarket timing chain tensioner has a brand new 45 - 3 or sprocket a brand new front tire back tire is in good shape

The only downside is he said it has a tap in the top end he says he thinks is either a rocker arm or a collapsed valve. I know all about cars but not much about bikes. What do you guys think?

Haha my mistake it's a 95. Anyway I decided to pass on it. The guy just seemed a little too sketchy the more I talked to him

I wouldn't buy one that old with the triple carbs. Those things are a major pain in the ass to work on if something is wrong with them. Try to find a fuel injected bike. You should be able to find an 03 CBR600rr for around 2500 bucks.

CBR 600's are easy to ride in general and well built. Kind of hard to find a bad one unless it was neglected.
