Trying to get some info here. What ratio does your 2.3 stang have factory in its rear axle? Please also specify if it is a manual or auto. Thanks!!

Autos were 3.73 and I think manuals were 3.45

I ended up with 2.73s in an 8.8 in my '93 n/a auto. I dont recommend it.

My auto coupe is a 2.73 I believe. Im going to check it when I get it back from the detail shop. Anyone got a link to decipher the axle ratio codes on the door sticker?

Mine came factory with the 3.45 accorrding to your chart. That explains why with the 3.55 and the taller 17" tires, the speedo is pretty accurate. That dies not answer the question as to why the mpg is so bad.

Tighten up the nut behind the wheel?

I've hear the 3.73s are better for fuel economy. Apparently these motors just like to spin up easily.

Cannot confirm nor deny these reports though

I am running a 3.27 disc 5 lug rear out of an 02 stang. I am also running slighhtly smaller tires too, so my speedo is about on.

I also want to clerify, i drove the car like there was a raw egg on the gas pedal for 2 weeks and never got better mileage than 23... With shifting conservatively, and coasting as much as possible... Im so confused.

And then theres OHC230 and zonkers getting 41 and 42mpg respectively IIRC.

Assholes.

At least you guys are getting 20mpg. My broken and beaten beast took $20 of premium on sunday, 42 miles later I'm sputtering. I was so mad.

Granted, I was doing donuts, burnouts, drifting, and racing on sunday night. Won $100 in a race so I guess I can't complain too much :bubba:

What is done to yours that you run premium?

It probably has the premium switch hooked up or wired to premium. If its hard wired to premium it will detonate very bad in boost.

1987 Coupe 2.3/A4LD is a 3.73
1984 SVO 2.3T/T5 is missing its tag, but it was supposed to be 3.45

And for a bonus:
2000 Ranger 2.5/M5OD-R1 is 4.10

I haven't gotten an MPG rating on the coupe yet. Only drove the SVO for a short while and it ranged from 19-28mpg, depending on how hard I beat it. My truck ranged from 22-26mpg.

Buy a Moates+ software for $350, newer 4 hole injectors, get rid of weight, lower ride height and stay out of the gas. expect a 10-20% difference.

Sorry I'm pressed for time.

OHC.

I should have added that the 1985, 1985.5 and 1986 SVOs were supposed to have a 3.73. I'm not sure if the Competition Prep cars had something different or not.
