What size slicks can i put on a set of stock 5 star pony wheels? I currently have the 10th anniv wheels with 274/40/17's. Car is lowered about 1.5"

Yes I am talking about the factory 16" pony wheels. Does the width make a huge difference? I had to beat the fender wells to fit my 10" rim. PLus I have stock axles. So would a more narrow tire be better?


What is all this drilling and screwing that has to be done for slicks? I don't know if what I even just said is right, but I see some people do more than just mount the tires?

Some people drill screws into the lip of the rim. Its to help stop the tire from spinning on the rim at launch. Don't think you'd need to worry about it though.
