grocery stores are a good starter because they will hire anyone (without references and stuff). But you will be making minimum and most-likely treated like dirt(especially by customers). Nonetheless it is good experience. If you get lucky, you may be able to get a job at a restaurant. I worked at albertson's (grocery store) as my first job, and i just got a new at Black Angus (nice restaurant). I'm hosting now and it is an awesome job. Everyone is in a good mood when they come to have a nice dinner, so a majority of the customers are really cool. Also you'll meet some real freaks and weirdos at a grocery store (because, as above stated, they hire anyone), while restaurants very rarely have weirdos, because you have to be outgoing and personable to get hired. The best part of a restaurant is that you can move up to waiter and make a TON in tips (the ones at my restaurant average anywhere from 12-30/hr in just tips).

To sum it all up: apply at restaurants for anything they can employ you as (busboy and host will really be your only 2 options until you've been there a while). But you may end up having to work at a grocery store just to get a reference and a start. Make sure you work hard (or at least make it seem like it) and don't be a dick to your managers so you can use them as a reference. Work there for at least 5 months and then u can quit and apply to restaurants again.

And if they dont go out of business, call me. Put the name of my company on the resume and I'll give you one hell of a recommendation. Hell, I wont even tell them about the "5 days straight" you showed up to work drunk in your pajamas.
thats hilarious lol.

Screw it, find an older lady (cougar) and giver the eye. Then let er take you home and let er have er way with you.

Make yourself available to er and make er feel good.

Won't be long before she hands you all kinds of cash and things.....just don't fall in love with er.

Then there is always the other jobs if it don't work out.

You are going to be a senior? Home Depot, Lowes, and WalMart are also good places to start. You can get a position in shipping and receiving and not have to deal with the customers. Don't need money? Like to learn body work or mechanics? Get an apprentice position at a shop. Little to nothing for pay, but you get the training and experience to get a good job. Start talking to recruiters. Air Guard, National Guard, and Coast Guard. You'll get training experience, benefits, bonuses, college tuition and good pay. You could have joined already and went to basic during summer break. If you do take that route, don't go into something that isn't going to help you get a job. Not many firms want someone that can drive a tank or fire some mortars. Aviation, medical, and finance are the best jobs. If you are smart, once you got into the Guard you could go warrant officer and become a pilot. Wish I could have but my hearing held me back. Good luck with whatever you choose.

**** a grocery store thats the worst job I've ever had and my lil bros first and he hated it as well. I would never let my kid work in a grocery store. Find something you like. When I was a kid I had a paper route - 12 then moved on to farm work great pay but shitty hours during harvest, nursery work, construction, roofing, and that ****ing grocery store but i did screw 3 girls that worked there. I like the outdoors so anything outside worked for me. I had 3 jobs my senior year and made bank.

That was one of my first jobs back in the day. Always wating for someone to order "extra anchovies" ( nobody will get that except the 80's farts in here).

Seriously, in a good hood, its all about tips. I had 6 hour shifts where I was bringing $20 an hour home. I was doing it in a VW Rabbit though. Gas was also 99 cents a gallon.

i delivered pizza for a lil while too. In my 350 hp lx 5.0 when i was 17. I was lucky gas used to only cost 1.40 for premium in 01. I used to fill my tank up right before work and have just under half by the end of the night. Would wind up putting 1000 miles on my car a week between work and school and going out. Ultimately i quit the job because it was too much hell on my car.......and i got to many complaints of all the cheese sliding to one side of the pizza! :lmao :lmao :lmao

i remember that movie........guy used to be a male deliverary whore.
