Really? Longer stroke? I knew the intakes were different but I didn't think 20 hp diff...
<--- Blows Conch

Longer Stroke... Hence the added deck height...

Rods - Longer ,Crank - Longer throw

4.6L Rod length = 5.93"
5.4L Rod length = 6.65"

Pistons are interchangeable between the DOHC and SOHC, 6.8L, 5.4L & 4.6L engines.

But you will need to check piston to valve clearance when doing so.

Nice Numbers but you are comparing a NPI 5.4 to a PI 4.6.

To be Fair...

PI Vs PI (99-04)

4.6 260/300 Mustang

5.4 260/350 Truck

NPI Vs NPI (96-98)

4.6 (96-97- 215/290) (98- 225/290) Mustang

5.4 235/335 Truck
