I'm debating on what I want to do. For those who don't know, I bought a CPR turbo kit.

Right now, my mt82 is working fine. I have a brand new spec 2+ ready to go in. But I'm debating, should I go magnum or 6r80. Obviously turbo and auto is the way to go, but the car is not going to be a drag oriented car. I'm actually going to start putting in some better handling suspension.

With the T56 Magnum I'd go with 4.10s, be similar to having 3.27s with the mt82.

I'm leaning more towards a magnum, but not 100% sure yet either. I may also try to get a full season out of the mt82, and order a nice set of wheels/tires.

How much could I sell a good working mt82 for?

I figure, I could sell my mt82, barton bracket, white line support, Shaftmasters alum ds, mcleod rxt/lightened steel flywheel, brand new spec 2+ to cover some of the cost of the magnum or or 6r80. Thought, opinions?

If it were me and it wasn't a full purpose drag car, I'd go with the magnum. There's something about smashing gears that makes it funner than an auto. No idea on how much you'd get for that stuff though, sorry.

Go with whatever you want and give me the Spec at a hefty discount.

As much as you like to drag race... auto.

Me, I love to shift my own gears. Gives me the feeling of a true sports car... but if I was building a car for the strip it would be an auto no doubt.

Lol! I'll keep you in mind homie

Lol marc, I know. The car won't be drag raced in any sort of competitive way. Just for fun.

Idk I'm starting to think, maybe go wheels and tires. Sell my front dark stars, keep the rears for the track. And go with a full size wheel. See how long the mt82 will last, hopefully I can get 1 season out of it. I'll have to think about it. Although a magnum would be sweet. Pretty much no worries..

I've seen a few TR6060s with a busted 4th gear. I know it's not the Magnum, but if I'm not mistaken, aren't they both roughly the same internals?

Plus, the auto tends to keep the turbo spooled up. I know the Super Duties are a bit different, but the manual trucks are so hard to keep in the power, while the auto ones always are smooth.

I just think an auto matched with a turbo is way better than a manual with a turbo.

At the end of the day, though, you drive your car. And you pay the bills, so it has to be your decision. Because if I make it for you, it may not be best for you. If you smell what I'm cooking.

I agree with everyone else Shaun, gotta do what you wanna do. If it were me I would see how long it takes to blow the MT82 then just go Magnum. I don't ever plan on buying an auto unless it's a daily/beater. I love banging gears too much.

Touché, thanks. Yeah I'm def gonna think about it.

Only reason why I don't wanna run it til it blows, is being stranded. And I can recoup some $$ selling it lol

You can recoup some $ by selling me that Spec at a hefty discount.

Seriously though, I want first dibs if you don't use it.

T56 mag >>>>>

My good friend runs the T56 Mag in his on3 car and with a 3.73 rear, it is an awesome setup for a turbo car.

Yea that 3:73 gear in your car now will have a long run out and keep that turbo lit, and reduce the shifting a bit too to get up to speed!

I am building my kit now to use my big Borg S-480 Billet turbo with and will keep my 3:73's and just weld axle tubes and maybe some axles, we'll see. I am like you I won't be racing unless it's illegal. I think I will ditch getting the GT350 and wait for the 17' 500 possibly.

Right now I have 3.90s, but they're whining and I have a bent driver side axle. So gears will be replaced regardless. I'm still up in the air, idk if I want to hold off a season with the trans and just go wheels now. Or vice versa.

Totally changing the point of this thread lol.

Anyone have experience with NT05R and or mickey thompson et street radial II's? Curious on grip, and tread life. Really want a tire that will stick from atleast 40mph, hopefully lower. But still get a full season out of.

Ken bjonnes went 9.04 on a 305/35/20 that's what sold me man. Lol. Mine are not going on till April. Looks like still **** weather.

Skip both trans. Just go straight to a power glide ;)

ET Street 2's hook damn well with heat. If I were to get radials on my car, between the 05R's and the ET 2's, the Mickey's would get my money. ET Street 2's in 19's dead hooked 2nd in my friends built On3 car, so you should be good rolling on them.

Tread wear seems to be pretty good too for being a radial. They will stick lower than a 40 for sure, just get a little heat in 'em. They dead hook 470whp from a 25 roll without hesitation, and that was on a high 30 degree night on concrete.
