Been looking for a newedge gt for weeks.
They either been too far out of town or sold before I got to look at them.

Found a 01 gt vert in a small town 20 min away.
The car looks good. Says no rust or bubbling in paint,no tears in leather.
New shocks/struts,rear tires, headlights and tail lights. Only mods done are flowmaster exhaust and CAI.
He wants 5500 but got him down to 4800.

My concern is he said the previous owner had the motor replaced with a 02 gt 4.6 but he does not have any paperwork and does not know the mileage of the motor.
He says when the odometer works it says 205k and "that theres at least 140k on motor"

He says it runs great that he took it to florida recently no issues. Says it doesnt leak or burn oil, and he wouldnt hesitate to drive it anywhere.

I normaly wouldnt concider a unknown mileage car but....

Any suggestions?

$4800 is entirely too much for that car, I'd either spend a few thousand more and get a car with a good background or not spend more than $2500 on that one

Its not worth that much based on the mileage?

seems like all the gt's in this midwest area are 4-5k for a newedge.
and ive been looking for 5-6 weeks everyday in every town within 3 hour drive on craigslist.

only gt's ive seen under 3k are older foxbodys that need alot of work.

Well I'm not sure what you're looking to spend but if you could swing 6-7k you could get a really solid GT with some mods done with around 100k miles. Not sure what the prices are like down by you, but 6k up here will definitely get you a nice car

I would just be a bit scared because of the odometer and the owner seems to have no info on the motor swap. If you can get it down and save enough money for problems down the road then I say go for it.

Once we get out of winter they'll start popping up. If you feel comfortable, expand your search outside your region and check out the classifieds here, on corral.net and svtperformance.com. Shipping a vehicle is not very prohibitive, I live in CT and found my vette in Florida, only was $800 to ship and took 3 days.

Yea I'm in the midwest, got my GT with 60k miles well below $10k. They'll pop up a lot as spring comes around- think April

I think that price is too high also^^

Keep looking they're way better deals out there to be had especially in this time. What's your budget? Are you set on a GT? You should look at 99/01 cobras and 03/04 Mach 1's. They can be had for under $10K these days.

You might even be able to find a DD'ed 03/04 termi for <$15k, but I agree there are better deals out there. Don't lose hope! Haha good luck

Even if it was a good deal, another good deal will always pop up sooner or later... so unless you're in an emergency to get a new edge I'd wait until at least spring when everyone's listings are up. No one wants to buy a mustang in the dead of winter just to get stuck on the side of the road lol

Way way way to much money and if they can not prove that the motor has been changed then i consider the motor to have the full miles. I got a 2000 gt with 115,000 miles for 2500 in great shape. I think u can do alot better. With a 5000$ buget u can get a nice gt with around or under 100,000.
