Far be it for me to TELL you what to do (much less pry into your finances), but if I had the extra to buy the Trans now, I woukd. Sounds like an excellent price for what sounds like a very well built peice. The do Vegas, then come back and buy what's needed later.

But that's just how I'd do it.

Yeah, I mean I'm going full retard right now spending money lol. Guy happened to pm me, very tempting.

He told me trans was upgraded and rebuilt by gforce, all new input/main shaft with different gears, they use helical gears that are all REM polised, Also upgraded all the synchros to 3 ring apparently corvette synchros, whatever that means lol. I'm sure the helical gears alittle noisier. Not like straight cut gears though. Probably can handle a lot of power and shift smooth.

I put a feeler up for all my trans stuff. See if I can sell some of the stuff to help pay for it. Jdos, if you read this I didn't list the spec 2+ as I told you IF I did decide to sell I'll give you a good price on it.

Thanks marc. Yeah did more reading. Gforce makes wider gears, like magnum does to the t56. Beefier synchros. So the trans is supposed to be stout.

I really can't find dick for info. My flywheel would be fine I assume, all I'd really need is a 26 spline clutch disc, driveshaft and a shifter I think...

Hold off on mods and save for Vegas, unless you're getting a killer deal. Trust me. It'll be worth it. I've never had so much fun as when I went to Vegas back in October. Already planning and squirreling away for another Vegas trip this Sept/Oct.

Plans for Vegas?

Haha it is a blast. This will be my 2nd time. Went last February (2014) had a blast. Went to dream racing at Las vegas speedway. Took the supperlegera around the track for 5 laps, then the mclaren mp412c. That car was insane fast. Handled like a boss too.

Didn't get to do as much site seeing last time, to much drinking lol. I don't really drink as much now, I'll have a few beers, but meh. Not really all amped to go out and get all banged up like I use to be.

Do more tourists stuff this time. I'm gonna do the Lamborghini adventador as las vegas speedway, dune buggy race, burgers and guns... go shoot a tommy gun and whatever else I can decide, grand canyon... think we may take a day trip out to San Diego since we're going to vegas for 5 nights.

Any suggestions? I've just been looking around, like I said last time I just drank pretty much the whole time

How many of yall are going?

We drank at night and stayed around Fremont street for hours til we sobered up. I stayed with a good friend of mine that's stationed at Nellis. Where are yall staying?

I didn't have the $ in my budget to do the exotic car experience. They do it here in Charlotte, NC too so no biggie for me on that one.

I hear Guns and Burgers is cool. I'll be doing that my next time out.

Fremont street after 9pm or so is a must. It's more "classic" Vegas as far as Casinos but there's so much to see and do. Don't know if you spent much time there. We went nearly every night.

Grand Canyon West is a must if you're going to the G.Canyon. It's about a 2hr drive IIRC. I think it's the closest place to see the Canyon. It's fairly expensive but worth it. There's where the Skywalk is. I didn't go on the Skywalk as it's an extra $30ish and I was on a budget this go round. The drive is long and it's expensive but it is 100% worth it, I promise. I went sight seeing while my buddy was on base for work during the day. He told me "If there's only one thing you do while you're here, go to GC West. It's worth the drive and $." I almost turned around after about an hour of driving out there thinking to myself "I saw it from the plane, doesn't look that impressive.". Yea, that was a very stupid thing to think. The moment I pulled up and saw the canyon. "This was very worth it." It's beyond beautiful and very relaxing. Just don't dick around on the edge of the canyon as there's no guardrails obviously. lol Oh, MAJOR tip. Fill up the car with gas BEFORE you head out that way. Other wise you might be like me and start praying that you have enough fuel to make it back. I was getting extremely nervous on my way back. There's a couple of stations out in the middle of BFE on the way there but gas is $7/gal. Be smart about speeding on the way out there. My luxurious Chrysler 200 rental sounded like a sewing machine doing ~90 mph on the way there and back. Plan to use ~6-8hrs for that trip total.

The Hoover Dam is on the way out to the Canyon, it's only a 30 drive from Vegas though so you can see it on another day. Also worth it. I think it's $15 for the powerplant tour. Starts with a 20 min video on the dam's history then a tour down into the dam. You get to see the generators, which interests me, so the $15 was worth it. There is a longer tour for more $ but I didn't wanna spend that much time at the dam.

Eldorado Canyon is a neat place on the way to Lake Mead if you head out that way for swimming and such.

I hear Red Rock Canyon is a must see. I ran out of time and didn't get to go on that trip. My buddy goes out there quite a bit.

The $ to get to the top of the Stratosphere is worth it just to watch people ride the rides. Beautiful view of the strip at night too. If you go, I highly recommend going as the sun is going down.

Of course the strip has tons to do, but I don't have to tell you that.

Skip the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop from the Pawn Stars show. It's a major disappointment. It's about the size of my house (not big) and they don't have much cool stuff.

Parking at the hotel parking garages on the strip is free. Take advantage of it.

If you have any questions, you can PM me and I can ask my buddy about it. He's gotten very familiar with Vegas.

I snapped nearly 1000 pics while I was there but here's 3 of my favorites.

Theres definitely 3 of us going, last time was 4. We may have 1 or 2 more people going. Were staying at Ballys this time around. Wanted something on the cheaper side, as we don't plan on spending a lot of time in the hotel. Last time we stayed at MGM. We were going to stay at new York new york, but rates were expensive. So we said ef it.

Yeah, I went to the stratosphere, that was real fun. Those rides were intense.

Lol at pawn shop, omg that place was awful! I forgot I went there haha! Soooo over hyped.

We did see the hoover dam, grand canyon is definitely high on the list.

I want to check out the shelby museum too.

Not gonna lie, I think Carl's JR is the first place I'm going to :lmao

There's so much to do out there. I'm almost debating the Las Vegas speedway thing, the Adventador I really want to do, but $450 for 5 laps? Ugh... hard to stomach.

We're going april 8-13.. april 10 is my birthday, so that'll be the one night I'll be drinking like a retard most likely haha

lol Yall don't have Hardees/Carls Jr up there? We have them here. I never go.

Did not know there was a Shelby Museum. I'll have to look into that.

Drinking and a strip club huh? lol

Did you actually ride the rides on the Stratosphere?

Discussion starter · #50 ·
Nope, none up here. That's another thing. We love our coffee from dunkin donuts up here. There's 1 around there. It's a 10 minute drive. Pain in the ass lol.

Yeah I forget where it is, not far from the strip

I did yea, only one I didn't do was the spin ride. I can do spinny rides, make me feel like total ****.
I loved the one on the top of the needle where it shoots you up, I was the only one who could keep my eyes open. Friends are pussys haha

Lmao!

Shelby museum is pretty neat, not sure I could do the dream car racing thing again.. so much money for only a couple laps on a small ass track :( I hate nascar, but I personally had more fun going for a ride-along in a nascar and I think it was about 100 bucks for 7 laps or something, i forget.

I drove a nascar for 30 laps too (work paid for it), but I don't recommend that. They speed limit the cars big time.. kinda ruined the fun completely to me when you're hitting a limiter as soon as you get out of a corner.

Don't forget twin peaks. ;)

Btw, my bday is april 10th too! haha

When in October were you there?

I'm in Vegas every October for NHRA nationals, always a good time there!

Yeah its insanely expensive. But I had so much fun last time I did it, I know if I do it again, I won't regret it. Plus the girls there are smokin.

Yeah I was debating on the Nascar thing, may do it.

Yes, definitely have to go to twin peaks! April 10 ftw!!

Back on topic...

I was looking at the magnum xl and 6060. Both use the same case, only difference is remote on the 6060. The magnum xl, is that actually a direct mounted shifter like say a 3650 in a 2003 mustang? Reason I ask, the tail shaft, just looks like it's an internal semi remote shifter versus external. Looks like to me if someone put casing around the mt82 linkage arm, then called it a direct mount. If that makes any sense??

It does to me. Same thing like the 6R80. Has two extension housings available. Mustang and 2wd and the 4x4 which mounts the transfer case.

Not sure if that's the only part that makes it a Magnum, though. Different output shaft maybe?

Discussion starter · #57 ·
Yeah I wasn't sure... is it actually like a top loader shifter? Haven't seen one opened up, but for some reason I think it's just an internal semi remote... idk. Was just an observation I made, was curious

Hm. I'll have to do that next time too. Didn't know there was a Shelby museum. I was going to do the rides...but like I said...budget. :/

I saw several dunkins while I was in Vegas. :headscratcher:

I'm sure there's a lot of trans in Vegas too. lmfao

Vegas is the place to win mod money.....Well.....Either win mod money or add a few months of wait time to your mod calendar.

Wtf. Do y'all not have Twin Peaks up north either?? There's one in every big city around here. :naughty:

I was out there for the Red Bull Air Race. I don't remember the exact dates. Lol I wanna say it was the 9th-13th. I go to both NHRA events at Zmax dragway every year here in Charlotte.

Where do you live??

Back off topic, Screw Carl's Jr. In and Out Burger is a must, double double with cheese. Trust me
Lol, I didn't go to in and out burger last time... will this time

I have to agree, I don't like Hardees/Carls Jr. All the ones around here are usually filthy and run by people who look like they haven't bathed in a week.

I also saw In and Out but didn't go. Definitely will next time. lol I need to make a list of stuff I say I'm going to do next time so I don't forget.
