they will send you an email asking the computer code, mods already done to the car, transmission type, year, etc..what kindof tunes you want.....etc.
Sweet! I'll get someone from Ford to call them back so they can have an intelligent conversation with someone rather than speak to me about such things. I'm sure that would just make that poor guy at Brenspeed's day to talk to me about that. lol

BS: So what is your computer code?

ME: Oh I have a Mac.

BS: No - your car's computer code.

ME: Oh oh oh....I don't know?

BS: Okay, well do you know what transmission your car has?

ME: It's a fast one and it sounds AWESOME!

BS: Alrighty then! How bout tunes...do you know which ones you want?

ME: Ummmmm....do you have any Southern Rock?

:eek:

Trans- Automatic
Mods- Bassani axleback
Computer code- There is a metal box attached to the right side of the fuse box (black plastic rectangle on the left side of the engine bay) than has a white sticker on it. It has a four character code on it, i.e. F1V4

tunes- They will ask you what the highest octane you have available is. 91 or 93 usually. Then they will ask you if you want tunes for 87, 89, or 91/93. Then they will ask you if you want performance (concentrates on power above 3000rpm) or a torque tune (concentrates on power below 3000rpm). I would say get a 87 torque tune, 93 performance tune and a 93 torque tune.

YAY! This post was great!

GOOD REP GOOD REP GOOD REP GOOD REP GOOD REP GOOD REP GOOD REP

How exciting! Seriously - it was all a bunch of gobbley **** before but slowly I'm getting some of this stuff thanks to your patience Red.

Walked out to the garage - lifted the hood, and it was all right where you said it would be. Hell maybe by the end of the year I'll be changing my own oil LMAO NOT!

From the reading I have been doing, I'm gathering that the torque tune is more for the daily driving?

Anyway - thank you - Found the engine code - I knew the answer to the first two - just jokin' around. :)

Thanks again darlin' that's AWESOME - I feel so empowered now! lol

Of course you have Zip! Thanks for checking in...thought maybe I bored you or something ;)

One more ??

If I tell them the 93 tunes does that mean I am bound to 93 octane for the rest of my days?

lol no, not bored at all hun. I'm a truck driver, and as such am only home 2 days a week. :)

Yes, if you run a 93 octane tune, you must run that tune until you install a different tune, whether it's your factory tune or, say, an 87 or a 91 octane performance tune. If you want to run the 93 octane tune as I do, I would take the car to the gas station and start putting 93 in her before you put the tune in, so that you have a full, fresh tank of 93 to go with your new tune when it lands. :)

Running 93 on the factory tune won't hurt the car, and in fact the Mustang's PCM, from what I understand, has the ability to recognize various octanes, and will somewhat adjust the timing accordingly by itself. Your new tune will simply be a big step beyond that. :)

Update!

WOW - lots happens in a day...well welcome home Zippy but I'm guessing you're probably getting ready to take off again if you were home on Sunday and Monday!

Here's the email that Brenspeed sent me today:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you for your tuning purchase. We will get started on your custom tunes shortly but we need some additional information. This is our tuning process so please reply to this e-mail so all of your information is directed to the correct department. If you in included any of this information in the comments section of your order please also include it in this e-mail reply.
We need to know the year, make, model, and transmission type of your vehicle. Also if you have a 2007 or 2008 GT Manual transmission specify your axle gear ratio. 3.55 gears were an option on 07 and 08 Model years. If you do not specify you have this option we will program your tune for the 3.31 gear ratio which was standard. If you look under the rear of the car at the cover on the rear-end you will see a white sticker. It will say 3.31 or 3.55.
We will need your processor code. If you have a 05 to 08 mustang this is located under the hood. It will be a small white sticker directly on the computer which is next to the black fuse box. This code contains 3 letters and 1 number. Don’t worry if you can’t locate the code. Just give us a call and we’ll help you find it on your vehicle. You can also read an article on locating your processor code on 05+ Mustangs by clicking on the link below.
Where Is My CPU Code?
We will need to know the modifications you have on the vehicle (if any). If you are ordering just tunes and already have an SCT tuner we need the serial number off of the back of the device. All of our tunes are customized to your vehicle.
We will load 3 tunes on your SCT tuner that are designed for various octane ratings of gasoline. We highly suggest letting us provide you with an 87 octane regular unleaded tune, and two premium fuel tunes (91 and 93 octane). Even though you may not have both 91 and 93 available in your area today we have seen a shift lately in the octane fuels gas stations provide. What they may carry today, they may not carry tomorrow. If you choose alternate octanes please provide them to us in the reply to this e-mail or 87, 91, and 93 tunes will be provided.
Because each tuner is built to order we have a 5 to 7 business day lead time on all custom programs. You will be emailed tracking info as soon as your order is complete and shipped out. Again, if you are ordering just tunes and already have an SCT tuner we need the serial number off of the back of the device. Thanks again for your order!
So - Red, you were pretty much "Johnny on the Spot" and I'm well prepared to respond to this email! :) What do you think about the stuff I highlighted in red??
Also finally nailed the parts manager at Ford down on the xpipes and got them ordered!!! Apparently they are out of them right now!?!?!? :eek: But should have more within the next week to 10 days. Which is fine. Should get the intake and tune about then as well - then can schedule her "day at the spa" and let the games begin ;)
I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! :D
Awesome Mama.
And yes, the torque tune is more for daily driving.
I agree with Brenspeed. Get one 87 tune and a performance and torque tune for premium. And I see no reason why you couldn't change your oil. It is very simple, and it is rewarding. If you aare interested I could explain it to you :)
