Get ready to order my shifter and wanted to make sure before ordering. Should I get the cobra bob gasket kit or just use the gasket maker it comes with? Thanks fellas just want to be sure

When did they start that? I thought they came with rtv gasket maker. If I'm not mistaking there website says it includes rtv gasket maker.

Never mind I just called them its says it comes with both. So that being said which is the preferred method?

Yes they come with both now. I used the gasket on mine, works like a charm! I even removed it months later because i did a clutch swap and it went back on without issue.

Hey Machery,

I love the CobraBob gasket myself. Used it on my 2004 Roush and use it on my 1967 Mustang ( T5 swap ) Either way you cant go wrong. Gasket maker isn't too bad to use, just make sure you don't make a mess if you're installing inside the vehicle.

Also, if you're swapping the shifter, now is a good time to do a transmission flush. Simply open the drain on the bottom of the transmission, once drained plug the transmission and fill through the shifter hole. Extremely easy, and good ease of mind!

I hope this helps,

Thanks,

Thanks fellas that's what I wanted to know

Just installed an mgw on a cobra at work a few weeks ago and that was the first I knew about them having the gaskets now. Deff go the gasket route. Makes the trans noise a little quieter and should you ever need to remove the shifter/trans it makes it much easier to do so since you dont need to clean any silicone.

The included gasket from MGW is awesome. Works super well and is insanely easy to install with the rest of the shifter. No worries about RTV mess

Thanks fellas ordering the shifter tonight. Which handle do you guys prefer?

I like the comfort for DD and the race handle for the track.

I installed mine a few weeks ago. Love it. Came with the thick rubber gasket and rtv. I used the rubber gasket. Im told that it cuts down on the noise that the shifter would make otherwise since it doesn't have the rubber damper bushings that the oem shifters have.

I bought the comfort handle and race handle. Havent used the race handle yet. Lol.
