Before I race my dad this summer I want to know if have a chance to beat him. He has the 07 Shelby, bone stock except for an air intake and my 02 GT can run a 8.1 in the 1/8th. I've kinda my dad's car up on a pedastual so it's kinda clouded my judgement. What would the race be like in the 1/8 and 1/4?

If you go to Drag Racing 1/4 Mile times 0-60 Dyno Fast Cars Muscle Cars - DragTimes.com you will see what GT500s run. Stock in the high 7s to mid 8s in the 1/8 and low to mid 12s in the 1/4. 764 is a stock Gt500. I beat them all the time with my MACH I (pro charger)

This will probably be a driver's race. It reminds me of my buddy who just purchased a 2003 pullied Cobra. We race all the time (me off the bottle) and I can always beat him. In fact, it doesn't even matter which car I drive. I can beat the Cobra in my car, and I can beat my car in his Cobra. Driver mod rocks!!

8.1 is a mid 12 slip. 12.6ish low 12s out of that 1/8th is pretty hard unless he's got a 2 stage nitrous. usually only turbo car or centri s/c cars pull that hard on the top end to get an 8.1 to a low 12
i RARELY ever see a GT-500 hit low 12s...only one i know of and that was VMP tuning which i believe he tuned the car for the run..
i'd say its a drivers race with GREAT favor to the 2v.

He's a better driver than me but I have more experience on the track. It should be a toss up. Ill post videos once it happens.
The GT500 is over 4100 lbs. That iron block is a killer weight wise. The motor alone is nearly 850 lbs. Also they can not hook up well without drag radials.

Unless his dad weighs 400lbs the GT500 doesn't weigh that much. More like 3800. And the 2V GT blocks were iron.
