Anybody using a Pypes catted xpipe? Thinkin about gettin one and wondering how the fit and finish is and if it mounts up solid or does it come loose at the cat clamps after time. Also wondering if the performance and sound is improved over the stock hpipe.

Brenspeed seems to have a decent price, cheaper anywhere else?

Pypes is crap. I you ever plan on going with longtube headers, either get them now or wait and do headers and midpipe at the same time. If not, go with a mid pipe from Bassani. A good bit more expensive but this difference in quality is well worth the money IMO.

I have an OR/x from them... built better than ford IMO.. I mean a mid pipe is so simple, how the hell can you get it wrong... some metal (stainless in pypes and ford's case), bent on a CNC machine, a few o2's bungs... swadge out the ends, and mig a reinforcement plate with your name on it... I'm sorry I think people get to caught up in brands.

HA! thats what i thought. I bought an OR/x pipe from them. AND THATS THE LAST TIME I EVER BUY FROM PYPES. my car sounded like a '67 pickup with 300k miles, bad piston rings, and a wheel knocked loose. I'd rather have a stock, catted H pipe than that crap. Dont do it! not only did i THROW AWAY the x pipe the day after i put it on, but i also had a pypes axle backs when exposed to no-cat conditions, they failed miserably. Ordered a pair of GTA's and she runs smooth as a whistle. you get what you pay for...it doesn't matter what brand.

that sound had nothing to do with the pypes x pipe... all x pipes sound the same... because they all do EXACTLY the same thing... my pypes or/x will sound exactly the same as a bassani or w/e brand with w/e brand axle backs you put on it.... it only compounded the problem that you where using shitty violators on an or/x pipe... I can only imagine the horror coming out of your tail pipe with those things... mufflers need to be chosen wisely... but a midpipe... is just that... a midpipe.. doesnt need to be anything fancy. and certainly donest need to cost more than 150 bucks... I'd have one made by a muffler shop before I bought one of those high priced "designer" pipes..

Well I need the catted X cause it's a DD and don't need the hassel of changing for emissions. The main thing I was wondering is if the cats come loose because they are the clampon metalicats but looks like no-one is using

I can see what your saying about the mid-pipe not being much on how it fits. I for one would not give Pypes the time of day. They are in buisness for one reason they are cheap! The products they offer are very poor in quality and how they fit. You get what you pay for. :pukePypes

Sorry but that's not the case. Time and time again I hear horror stories of how shitty Pypes fitment and quality is. My Bassani x pipe fit like a glove.

I didn't have any problem on the install, besides the O2 sensors which i busted one because the x pipe pretty much ate it for lunch, but they still suck, as stated before. Also, an 'aftermarket' part is just that. its a part that somebody thought would make the car look better or go faster, thus other people agreed and bought it. violators cost between $150-$200 bucks and the x pipe isn't that much more shipped. if you look at the cost-to-quality concept, then does anybody think that the stock pipes that come on the newer mustangs cost $175?? No, so why would you put something cheaper than what it came with. IMO, its a downgrade.

its just an exhaust pipe...lol... it has one purpouse.. flush exhaust gases to the back of the car. as long as it does this (and doesnt rattle and leak ect.) why give some a kidney and a lft nut for it?

thats all I'm saying :yes

I was thinkin the small metallicats on the pypes would free up some flow over stock cats but prob not enough to make it worth the hassle. All points in thread are good though. Guess it's not worth messin with the midpipe unless I go LTs also, but just can't justify yet for the gains

Good choice!
