I decided to up my goal and if I do it to do it right the first time so I'm going to push my car up to anywhere between 650 and 750 rwhp. I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to accomplish this but I do know I want a Kenne Bell 2.8H or possibly a large single turbo. I don't know much about engines so I don't want to get something that would be overkill but I do want something that can handle the power and handle me kicking the crap out of the car. What are some ideal long blocks or short blocks/heads that I could accomplish this with?

I plan on swapping out my tranny to a 6-speed and upgrading the suspension. Is there anything I need to do to the rear end?

Thanks!

What should I do as far as heads if I get the livernois shortblock? I was looking into that or have Larry_H build me something from all the recommendations I got in my previous thread.

Basically I want a streetable car that will kill mostly anything out on the road. I'm even debating on putting on a stage or two of nos but I'm still throwing that idea around.

When are you gettin blown Mickey? :D

I have the Comp cams that I bought for my block that I never had a chance to put in yet, would those work with either of their heads? Also, is there a big difference between their stage II and stage III heads? I'm starting to put together a price list of different options I can do. My budget on the block alone is going to be around 7-10k

Well, I may not be the smartest person around but I do what I do and I do it well :)

That sounds pretty tight

Hmmm, that does look like a nice set up. I forgot all about the new Saleen Long blocks. I will have to see if my budget permits this. I think I'm going with a bigger blower anyways though. And I about to pick up a big brake kit off of a GT500 for $550 ;)

well you can us the kb you have now, save up for the bigger blower or you can see if you can trade yours in back into kb and pay the difference.

I don't think KB will do the trade but I'm sure I could sell it for $3k or so. I have like 5 or so different pulleys, polished manifold, the intercooler, cold air kit, 60 lb injectors, a custom intercooler tank, and i forget what other doo-dads lol

Car dynoed 680 rwhp/735 rwtq about 4 months ago. We've added nitrous but only trying 50 shot without another dynotune. So not sure what current numbers are but planning on a dynotune end of October with some combination of high boost and nitrous. Maybe the present 20 lbs boost and 100-125 wet shot?

Anyway, you really have to ask yourself (because it's going to get expensive and complicated) what do want to do with 700 rwhp??? Firstly, it's not useable horsepower for street use. You would likely need race gas to
achieve those numbers and even if you ran around with C16 in your tank, that's nasty stuff and I would not want to be in the same county if you got in a wreck. There's a limit to traction on street legal tires and the grippier the tire, the worse they perform on wet surfaces.

So it really comes down to needing 700 rwhp for racing. You will have to consider the following:
built block (maybe stroker, particularly for a turbo), head/cams, upgraded fuel system, built transmission that might include transbrake, built rearend (maybe 9 inch), then there's a lot of suspension work, move battery to trunk, and 15 inch rims to make way for some serious sidewall to flex. Put $3000 aside for a trailer (something is going to brake, snap, or just come loose sooner or later at the strip). Must forgotten a bunch of stuff..........................

Then you'll be shooting for 9s, so full cage and other safety equip. You could end up with a car that is a pain to street drive, loud as hell, has a gutted interior with bars running through the outer a/c vents, and actually lousy as a street racer.

I dont understand....

I just dont understand a hp goal...

Why not an et goal? or a top speed in the mile?

You could tell 95% of the world you have 1000hp and they'd know none the difference; or just get a dyno shop to put your info on a sheet with the hp you want?

I dont understand....

As far as tranny, I plan on finding a 6-speed from a Saleen Extreme or a GT500. Suspension I haven't really done much research on so I'm not sure how much the proper set-up will cost me.

I'm not sure if 700 rwhp will be a realistic number but I def want to have at least 600 to the wheels which I know for sure can be done with an easily driveable street car. It won't see rain but I don't want to run full out slicks so I'll probably get some Nitto 555's on some 18" or so rim's, maybe even leave the 20's on there :D

I don't really have an et goal because I probably won't be taking it to the track. I'd have to have a cage and possibly a parachute which I def. don't plan on doing
