Rob, let me know what he says after you talk to him.
Hey Chris,
BJ has my back and understands my situation. He already knew what to do with the modded parts before I asked him to. He is breaking down the top end now and will call with results. I'm a little nervous but hoping for the best. I think if it was totally dead, he would have called a while ago. I will call you as soon as I hear something...got my fingers crossed. Thanks again.

Question though... do you have a pully tool to swap the stock pully back. BJ doesnt have one and I might be lugging my supercharger to JPC to swap. I am sure I will be charged for 1 minute work there.
let me know and thanks again.

I have oil pressure and no smoke or leaks. I only run it for 5 seconds or so just to show the problem to Chris and John and it cranks over as normal. Not a heavy shake at all. just an unbearable clancking and slight squeaking noise. I know the squeak isnt my belt but that is what is sounds like.
I had a big scare one night after my belt lost a single rib. Couldnt even tell since it came off so perfectly clean. This happened right after flooring it in first until about 6K when I heard a loud clink and lots of raspy backfiring. Pushed the clutch in right away and coasted to the side of the road. Still had oil pressure so I didnt freak out too much but it sounded bad.

Belt was running slightly left and right on the pulleys and every time it made one oscillation the tensioner would clink. Sounded like it came from the heads but it was just acoustics throwing around the sound.

New belt and no problems 20K miles later. It was very tough to see by the eye since the belt didnt look damaged or frayed like you would expect.

Yep sure do. Let me know when you need it and we can work out gettin it to ya. I can do the swap if you want to. Why would you have to sap out the s/c? Callin ya in a minute!

Like already has been mentioned, it can be real hard to pinpoint the cause of the noise.

Do you think it might be the dreaded head tick?

Does it sound anything like this?

that tick times ten. My engine sounds more like 3-4 kids banging pots and pans celebrating New Years eve.

My problem is a bearing in the lower front of the engine broke in half and ripped wild. Looks like a new engine will be the only remedy. Chris' (~C~)guess as to what the problem might be was dead on and will have to post exactly what happened because I was so dazed when talking to the mechanic I really didn't take it all in. Rich/07stanggt is helping me out by supplying the kooks long tube headers and catted X-pipe. That way there will be zero installation cost for that upgrade, saving me around $800. plenty of oil and no lose in pressure. looks like it was normal 84,000 mile wear. Sucks but at least it is being overhauled from front to the back of the crank shaft. it was leaking rear end fluid as well. Hope to have if back on the road in a week. Depends how quick we get the engine. My mechanic is awesome and only needs a day to drop in the new engine and put her back together. They are cleaning everything including the supercharger. Everyone is coming through for me and I have a lot to be grateful for.

Services for my car's engine burial will be held at 2pm Wednesday for those who wish to attend.:sorry
Sorry No parts available. LOL

Yea I originally thought it may be a crank bearing, but then after listening to the top end thought it could be a valve. I guess I was to begin with but my diagnosis sucks balls! Anyway, its completely awesome that Rob is getting this done for nothing. What a relief! Happy it worked out for ya man. Let me know if you need anything else. Ride coming up soon to break in the new bottom end!!!

im sorry to hear that dude. i would agree and say its the flywheel or something having to do with the tranny. and i would think that your warranty would cover it cuz i think warranties are concentrated on covering drive-train components. good luck man!

Pull your pcv hoses of while its idling and see if it smokes.
just being curious, but what would this indicate? Im asking cause my buddies 01 when he was doing a tune up and changed his PCV out while idling there was smoke coming out of the hole, not alot just a little.
