If it just runs outta steam, then its a power issue. how much wheel hp are you pushing? 100 rwhp is probably only going to get you less then 10mph. 150 with a vortech into a head wind sounds about right anyway.

a stock stang isnt doing 147 everyday of the week.

The livernois stang that did 186 was like a 840hp car wasnt it? are you making 800hp? A z06 has a top speed of 186 right? it weighs what 400plb less, has 515hp and is much more aerodynamic then our car. A bugatti 1001 whp, 232mph.

Your not doing 180 with a vortech blower on a stang.

I can tell you i had a brenspeed x cal, still have it. there is no speed limiter turn off option. Just the rev limiter.

but let us know what you find out.

well, the charger weighs more, and it's less aerodynamic, but it has more hp. i would say, stock, no more than 150...if it's not limited too. don't quote me i'm just guessing.

here in mexico with a gps it make 163 mph

its just an obsession, the top speed all the comments are welcome, but im sure i can make more than 155 mph with my mustang with the vortech supercharger
 
How much rwhp you makeing with that vortech? I put down about 390 to 400rwhp the last time i hit less then 150, i can tell you that the car was outta steam, it wasnt a governor.

In my experience you feel a governor. its not like the car just gets to 120 and stays there. In the cars i have felt its either cutting the rpms, which you feel, or its cutting the fuel which you feel. the car will studder, drop speed and rpms, pick them back up and then drop them again.

If its just hanging there, then sorry she is just done.

I dont know what the stop speed of a charger is, i know the last time i was at 145+, it was against a charger srt8 modded, 5 times from a 80 roll, i gave him a car to start, walked around him each time and was a car ahead at like 145. but at those speeds im not looking down. and any bend in the road my stang didnt feel to stable up there that night, and i have a lot of suspension mods.
 
You probably can. but the fith gear in this car is like over drive. Like you said you were only at 4500 rpms, what power are you making there with that vortech? im sure i could have gotten some more mph outta my car, but it climbs real slow at that point becuase of how high 5th is.

Not to mention my speedo stops at 145, so how do you know you werent still gaining speed? its not gonna pull that hard in 5th with 3.55s
 
i think he has a gps...that tracks your speed by satalite. i use my gps more than i do my speedo

yes the stang isnt to stable over 120 mph the front flote i feel, i dont know what its wrong with my car unless i want to think the mustangs in mexico are governated, it feels like a governator just at 240 km/hr - 150 mph and stay there even in hill down a cant make more mph just 150 mph, its like my 2008 silverado at 170 km/hr- 106 mph it look similar
 
I find that my Mustang is pretty stable up until around 135-140 mph.....after that, it seems to become a noticeable increase in effort to get it up to 150, and in effort to keep things stable. Not hugely so, but noticeable.


Were one to attempt this on a regular basis, and/or push speeds over 150 mph, I wouldn't even consider doing so on the stock suspension and with the stock brakes. I would never attempt this without each and every time verifying that my tires are in good shape, free of debris, and properly inflated.

Traveling at these speeds is no joke. You hit something at 150 mph, you don't worry about how bad you may be hurt or how the car may be smashed. The car explodes. I don't mean necessarily in a fireball. I mean disintegrates. In to many small unrecognizeable parts.

As for you, you become goo. There is nothing left of you to bury. Your parents family, and friends won't even be able to have an open casket, because they will be scraping you off the highway with a shovel. Literally. How do I know this? Because I've personally scraped guys like you off the road before. With a shovel.

It will only be through the grace of God that you don't hit another person and take them with you, thus causing their family a lifetime of grief and pain that they will never forget.


But hey, knock yourself out. See if you can go for 200.
 
No governors on any production s197 mustang.

To the original poster if you had RPM limitation at 4500rpm, you would know it, not think it. Especially with a blower dumping all that air and fuel down into that motor. Your car is just running out of steam and simply cannot cut through the wind to go much faster than it is. If you want to test, take the car out when there is a tail wind and you will pick up 2 or 3 mph which will prove the car simply can't do it on it's own and point out your not "governated" all in one pass- had to make fun there. A blown car being limited in a rev limiter application makes a god offul sound when it goes into effect. You would kick this thread off with something like "my **** is broke, don't know what's wrong".

Cut the wind out from under that thing and you will gain a few mph.

I've been 176 according to my gps and the car felt horrible, needs more downforce in the rear for sure a cross wind in these bricks will put you off the road for sure at those speeds. It also takes far too long to push these shoe boxes up to those speeds as 5th gear is as 07 said basically overdrive.
 
go over a bump at 150+ and you feel the hole car float, stock suspension lifts like crazy on almost every production car. Fastest i been in a car is 167 was a single turbo supra older style and it was mine, the hood latch failed,the hood flew back snapped over my car, and smashed my windshield, scary stuff at those speeds. if you are going for 150+ do it safely take precautions, ie hood pins, suspension etc. and yes tuners have a top speed limiter option ,on and off, and it doesnt do ****. once your over 130 it all looks the same i have been near 200 on my full bolt on r1 tuned its no joke one slip and its is nothing but ground meat. go 1/4 mile not top speed if your in mexico go to the designated areas like the texas mile down there so you dont kill somone. my auto 05 gt hit 152 by the gps bonestock
 
According to Ford they are top speed limited to 147mph. My xcal 3 has a top speed limiter option.

There is no 'governator' on your car. If you really want to go faster your going to have to change the car aerodynamically. Period. You didn't tell us anything besides the fact you still need help with your english. :D The only way your car would be governed is if someone were to set it on your hand held tuner. This would be something you or your tuner set. It would NOT come this way from the factory. Period. End of story. Ford says the S197 is aerodynamically limited to 147.
