this thread is full of mis information... 96-98 use a gear driven VSS. and you can just change the gear if you want to be inaccurate....I'm almost positive the only thing you can do is install the physical gear and you can't use the electronic.
fix't and repp'edI'm almost positive that you should read MustangMatts96GT's post above this :yes.
I'm glad you posted this. I was reading through the whole thread waiting for someone to correct it. The Speedcal definitely works. Mine did until it shorted out or something. I haven't figured that out yet...but I will.this thread is full of mis information... 96-98 use a gear driven VSS. and you can just change the gear if you want to be inaccurate....
or you can buy a speed cal... it requires some wiring (5 minutes worth) and plugs in. i have it in my 96 and it works well...
SO yes you can use Electronic Speed Cal to change the speedometer... the speed cal changes the resistance being sent frm the VSS to the speedometer to correct it....
99+ you can use a hand held, but not for 96-98s
the gear will work, but it will be off 1-3mphSo... the gear won't work? It will save me alot of money if it does, but if not i'll order the electronic one from AmericanMuscle.
