I know this is a very oftenly asked question and everyone has there opinion's on both kinds of kits. But which one is better overall for hp stats. And the difficulty in installing either one? Which one is a better buy and is more dependable? Not looking to buy either anytime soon have like no money, just wondering just want some opinions on one or the other or both if someone has experienced useing both would be great. :)

Yes, this is up there with "what exhaust" and "3.73s vs 4.10s".

Turbo, hands down.

Superchargers are much easier to install.

Better buy is an opinion. Dependability depends on install, though do you see more OEM turbos or superchargers?

See the answer to the your first question, lol.

+1 for turbo to get max hp.

6 year old could install a KB to pushrod engine, its so easy. Like changing the upper intake.

turbo will produce allot more then the kb but is more expensive, more involved installation, and increases under hood temps allot so heat protect your wires etc.. will need a complete retune after install

kb is limited to size of pulley in terms of power it can create, simple install, puts allot more stress on the snout of your crank, requires a retune as well

either one is a good choice although centrifugal superchargers produce more power then a kb twin screw type but in higher rpm range. If your looking for instant power in low rpm then the kb is your choice supercharger wise. Turbo spool up isn't a problem depending your turbo choice

I've read alot of times on this website that KB's don't produce that great of power on 5.0's because they get really hot. I think vortech, procharger, novi 2000 is the way to go on foxbodies. Plus with KB you are limited to i think 2 lower intakes.

Yup, there is no IC option for the little 1.5L KB. Turbos make WAY more power, but cost a lot more and the install is much more involved.

aside from the limitations of the kb that we've mentioned in this thread I also think all of it has to do with how light our cars are in teh rear ends and how the kb units throw gobs of torque out in the lower rpm range which enhances our already horrible traction. That is also why the centrifugal chargers are a little more appealing because there gains come on in the mid 3k mark where we have traction and need the power to come on which they do.

+1 this pretty much sums it up

3K-4K is just about where my car starts to loose traction ;)
My HP graph with a v1 is a straight sloped line up with rpm and peaks at the rev limiter.

yea with turbo ur gonna make alot more power..and with technology now days u can get them to spool very quick...it is goin to take alot more tuning time, thats for sure..and dont skimp out on that part, its very important...do u have any work done to the car right now?

turbo will out HP and out torque a supercharger anyday.BG customs and Ponydown make
killer setups at a reasonable price. How much HP are u lookin to make?one of their kits
with a t-70 turbo will have the ability to push your car into the 9s.PM me if you got any questions.

ive seen turbo kits for under 3 grand
+1 a vendor on here "boostbrothers" has a kit for our cars..if u hurry they will give u a crazy good deal, but u have to have the kit installed by a certain time and running..this is for them to get info on what kind of power and wat not their kits are making..they're are a few people on here who used them and said they're excellent but i personally havent used them but i would check them out

sounds like a killer deal, if i had an sn i'd hop on it for sure

so as far as performance goes your better off going turbocharged, kb is kinda like a plug an play kinda upgrade with limited potential?
I wouldnt put it like that, it depends on what kind of performance youre looking for. To me KB is a lot better option than turbo or centri, but im not in it for the absolute maximum hp and i dont drag race etc. Mine is a street car. I like the overall performance, and these new, bigger 2.1L and 2.2L units are better than the old 1.5L and 1.7L ones, with water/meth injection they can make lots of hp. But they are expensive.

What i love about my KB is that at only 4 pounds of boost its already making more torque at 1200 rpm that what my car dynoed max when stock, and it stays above that all the way to the rev limiter.

not much have an underdrive pully and dual cats and performance chip, i have bought a 5.0 and t5 5 speed to put in the summer time just waiting for it to be warmer before installing it. Just wondering which way is the better way to go to get more hp. Not getting one anytime soon got enough to work on for now lol. But thanks for the advice

thanks for all the advice, dont know much about either one, i just know that turbo have full kits that come with intercooler and everything you need and seems like the kits are about the same price as kb. i think im leaning toward turbo now for the future mod with all the advice that was givin. Because i know in the future im gonna want more and more power, and turbo can be upgraded easier and gives out more power so sounds good to me. thanks everyone big help.

my goal is to hit around 400 hp right now cause im newbie and have alot of work to do to my car right now. Plus im trying to get all the internals and drivetrain in order before i put a turbo on. I just wanted to see ppl opinions and see what is the best way to go.
