hey guys..im pretty sure i got a blown head gasket..i drained the oil and theres bubbles in it and after it all drained, ill shake the pan (cause its unbolted due to me trying to get it off) but some liquid is still coming out a little when i shake it and its not thick at all...also it over heated pretty bad a few times..thats what started all these issues for me..but my question is whats really involved in taking the heads off and putting them back on..it is easy? i know u gotta take care of valve lash, not sure exactly what to do for that..but is there anything else i should know..ive never done this before..

i just pulled mine off today. first time doing it so i may have gone about it wrong. but i started at the top and worked my way down til i could get them out. upper/lower intake, and then fuel rails, and stuff. took like 2 hours. but i'm slow.

mine was a little easier too, cause the exhast was already off and i have shorty headers. so, those just came right out with the heads.

i don't know if i needed to pull everything off of the top. but i was taking it out anyway. so i did that first.

i'm sure that i've been absolutely no help and i apologize. :)

yes, upper/lower intake etc have to come off, can leave the fuel rails on the lower intake.

your call on leaving certain brackets on the heads, some do it for something to hold on to, some remove them to help knock the weight down of those 55lb boat anchor factory heads

yea i think im good on getting them off, pretty much jus unbolting stuff..but putting them on, do u jus bolt them on? and for the valves, do i need to unbolt the rockers? or loosen them before putting them on or wen i take them off..do they have to be torqued? or am i thinking to much of this and its pretty much just bolt on, then snug the rocker to the rod and go?

theres a torque sequence for the head bolts. are they stock style rockers or pedestal mount?

if stock torque to 19ftlbs, if pedestal mount 0 lash, in other words, as you tighten down on the rocker, twist the push rod until it looses its free play, then turn 90* and lock down the jam screw

im not sure..they r ford racing i believe..they were on the car wen i got it..ill take pictures and stuff but i think they r pedestal mount if i remember correctly..i saw them a long long time ago before they were put on but that before i knew much about performance parts

do the rockers have bolts that go through them or do they sit on a thick stud.

if they sit on the thick stud, the nut that holds them is turned 90* after 0 lash, then inside that nut is a small allen headed screw, tighten that down to lock them in
