hey everyone i just bought a 94 mustang gt with the mach 460 stereo system it has a am/fm/cass no cd player i was driving down the road today listenin to the radio and it just stopped playing i have no clue what happened i mean i really like the mach 460 what can i do?? o yeah and the head unit is working fine its getting a signal from the anntenna and i tried a cass it didnt work either i think its an amp prob but im not sure

try checkin all the connections on the back of the radio first!

hell man to tell you the truth i dont know much about steareos

It could be a blown fuse, a bad connection or blown amps.

Start by checking the fuses then check all the connections and if that doesn't work check to see if your amps are giving out power.

Oh and xx9gt6xx if you only get highs from your tweets both of your amps are blown. You can replace the stock amps really easily but it is going to be like 400-550 dollars for the two amps in the back.

I would reccomend an aftermarket amp. But warning, your system will most likely not give out the same amount of bass!! You might need to get a small extra subwoofer if you get a new aftermarket amp.

hey everyone things for all your input, this morning i was looking under the steering column and noticed a switch mounted by the hood release i switched it on and the stereo worked again the previous owner must have installed it

hey everyone again my stereo stopped working again its not the switch that was installed that is to a glass break security thingy i checked all the connections behind the radio and all fuses under steering column and under the hood iono what the problem is i was just goin down the interstate and i just quit the head unit is fine and everything sounded perfect the it just stopped playing music no speakers work at all!

Both of the amps in the mach 460 work sequetially so there is no true "power amp."

If you know someone else with the mach 460 or mach 1000 you can easily swap one of the amps and it should make a huge difference.

Chances are that if one of your amps are blown, both are.

I think you are reffering to the head unit amp. Pretty much all modern head units have a very small amplifier but they are not anywhere near strong enough to power most quality speaker setups. That is why you have the extra amps in the back.

If that is blown your head unit wouldn't even work.

hey again everyone walmart had a sony xplod head unit with aux input for 89.99 and i was suprised to find a wiring harness that worked with the ford "premium sound system" i plugged it in to the back of the old radio connections and hooked up the new stereo and it sounded great. the guys at best buy and local audio stores said it couldnt be done with a mach 460, but it sounds just as good as stock and it took less than 20 min to install. o yeah and by the way the harness was only $9.99!
