yup just got my 3rd ticket..... 86 in a 60 and it goes along with the 55 in a 45 and a 80 in a 60... so im going to buy a radar.. any advice on which ones are good... cheap good one? just give me some input, thanks
Last time I got pulled over (first time in my stang) coming home from Dallas to Austin down I35, I was going about 85 with only 18 wheeler between me and the cop. She told me that she was reading both of us at the same time and could see via her radar me going that speed while he was going 65. I slowed down and pulled up right behind him before I passed her and she still got me. Luckily defensive driving will keep it off my record.I have only gotten hit once and I know he wasn't aiming at me cause I there were a few cars between us when it hit. I don't know if the lasers have spread or possibly reflection but it couldn't have been aimed directly at me. Didn't matter cause I knew the area (Ohio I-90)was bad and was going the speed limit in the slow lane. The detector went off a ways before I could even see him and plenty of time for me to slow down if I was speeding (maybe). Not that it would have helped if it was an empty road and I was speeding but in traffic it might pick them up early.
Bad thing bout jammers is the cops will know you have it and they are illegal, so your still screwed.unfortunately none of them can, unless you upgrade to some expensive laser scrambler system. Kind of pointless out here though, cops still haven't really switched over to laser much at all. Only been hit by 1 in 2 years.
The difference between the two stories is there were multiple cars in the one you quoted. The officer has to be certain it was you that was speeding. If it is only you and an 18 wheeler it's probably more obvious you were the one speeding.Last time I got pulled over (first time in my stang) coming home from Dallas to Austin down I35, I was going about 85 with only 18 wheeler between me and the cop. I just opened a thread on a radar detector in the clubhouseI currently have a cobra, and it gets the job done but isn't as strong now that it's 2 years old, lookin for an upgrade. I was recommended the escort 9500ix, but wanted to look at something that would also do radar/laser scrambling. Rocky mountain radars has a couple units that match that description for under 300, but I haven't heard many reviews, or even heard the name before today. There's always the Valentine, but that's pretty pricey as well. I'm just now checkin up on any new cobra toys that have come out.
Nevermind on that rocky mountain radar, read some of the reviews/comparisons and it's junk. Best bet for an economical radar detector is a cobra, I love mine and it was 150 new. If you want something serious, look into the BEL stuff, Valentine one, or the aforementioned escort.
