same difference, kinda figured thats what he was getting at though.
Yea OD is used on the interstate not the track. I do all my driving (most) on the interstate and don't go to the track. 15 miles to work which 8 are on interstate and a lot of road trips in my job. I just want some more jip and to get me out of the drone zone 1800-2300 my new Magnaflow CB and X- Pipe really scream (drone) going down the interstate. Was tempeted to knock the OD off and did a few times but RPM was to high.

The general consensus is that 3.73's are the correct gear for a typical street F/I application.

4.10 for N/A.
This is what I meant in my post terms like the general consensus, the rule of thumb, everyone with auto should,

I just want to kno the facts behind the reason for the gears. I do see some cam dealers and FI say go with 3.73. So if I wanted Stage II cams later would that make a difference?

maybe get a taursas for something for a DD. Ya 100 kinda sucks. I have my O/D off pretty much all the time

the higher 4:10 up are the best low luanch and the lower less low end and more high end top speed. 3:55 and lower............3:73's are a decent gear ratio

The reason cam requirements "require" or recommend gears is bc they will get you in the higher rpms faster which is where the cam will really shine.

Spit it out! LOL!

If your never going to run the 1/4 and you dont mind cruising at 2500-3000 65-80mph then by all means get the 4.10s

4th gear is what you call it? i was wondering if there was a name for it. Scott has a 4th gear for sale over in the 05+ section.
