like i said it sounds like a coffee maker making coffee that same noise. So I guess its more of a clicking sound then popping sorry for the confusion
read up edit post. ^^^^ also im still not willing ot completely rule out an exhaust leak but i do know that if your heater core has air in it or the thermostat is stuck open it will gurgle like a coffee maker whats your engine temperature at after 30 min of driving it should be pretty much dead center in the gauge.

I use full synthetic and a Mobil high performance oil filter which is the best the shop carries, so I don't think that's a problem. My temperature is in the middle after driving 30 min.

Actually now that I think about it twice when pulling out in to 50mph traffic I accelerate kinda hard (3k rpm) and smelled something burning I pulled over in a parking lot and rolled the windows down and reved the engine to see if I could smell it again and smelled around the interior to make sure I'm not burning any thing and I couldn't smell the burning I was a little confused and thought maby it was another car I smelled. But just a few weeks ago I accelerated a little hard again and smelled that same smell do you think that has some thing to do with it?

I drove in my car again today and noticed that noise I think I hear it better if I put my ear next to the center vents. Does any body know what this could be?
im guessing blower motor or the heater core is gurgling maybe sucking air dunno. but usually u would smell prestone and you would get a sweet tasting fog building up on the inside of the windshield when the defroster is on. behind ur dash is relays wiring heater core and blower motor so take ur pick at the noise other wise its coming from the engine bay or exhaust.

Some times when I turn on th vents I do smell something weird, not sure what though. Do you think that this problem will get worse?
if its the heater core eventually it will get so bad your windshield will be constant steam and u will see it rising from the vents and u wont be able to safely drive any where my tempo did that to me i had to roll all 4 windows down to help keep the windshield clear enough to make it home. do you know what antifreeze smells like? open the reservoir on your car (when its cold of course so u don't get a massive burn) and give her a few sniffs if thats the same smell u smell inside of the car u got a heater core problem that will eventually get worse.

hmm I smelled antifreeze about 3years ago but I think that's a good chance that is what I smelled. I don't have a problem with my windshield fogging up with my defrosters on though, they clear up prefect when I turn them on. So do you think that's the problem? What is the heater core ? Is that just for the heater or is it for other things too? Because if its just for the heater I shouldn't worry about it for another year seeing how it's march and I won't have to be using it soon.

the heater core is the mini rad that the blower motor passes its air through to give you the luxury of heat in your car if it is failing which i now suspect because u say u think it is an anti freeze smell then GET IT REPLACED cuz its only a matter of time before it completely goes and u have a massive coolant leak INSIDE your car and your windows will all fog up like i said. and well your engine can risk being over heated if you lose enough coolant. not to mention anti freeze mist/vapors can make you sick it is poisonous u know.

I can tell if the engine is over heating from the gauge that's on the far lefts' top gauge (right?) by seeing if the needle goes to close to the right? Is that alright because I really don't want to wast money getting a engine repair.

How much money do you think this would cost to get fixed including installation?

last time i did a heater core it was 34 bux and a pain in my shaft to do. but i did it. get a Haynes Manuel its a god send its only like 20 bux and u can decide from there if u want to do it ur self but its pretty easy. just awkward to do seeing as ur going to be on ur head on the floor in ur car under the dash. but definitely get it fixed man u will regret it if it blows completely while ur driving. can u say ouch third degree burns if it happens to leak really bad. but i also say get a second opinion of the smell make sure u can smell the antifreeze inside the car and make sure its not an external leak under the hood. don't want to replace what isnt broke :D good way to tell also is to pull the heater core cover off and see if there is antifreeze sitting in the bottom of it or a residue from evaporation liquid there should be neither.

Is the heater core in the car? If it is, is it that big black box looking thing on the passenger side ? Also I only smelled that a few times when i turned my vents on. I never just smelled it in the car with the defroster on.

that black box on the passenger side i think might be the blower motor the heater core will be on the passenger side or in the center area
