Hi everyone! Just got my first Mustang, my father picked it up from a friend of his for a really great price. It is a 1986 GT obviously as shown in the thread title. I'm not much of a V8 guy, I mainly stick to front wheel 4 cylinders, most of which are Hondas. Some of my previous cars were an 88 Daytona Shelby, 02 Ranger Tremor, 02 WRX and currently a 92 Civic hatchback. I have been over the past few days reading up about the fox body mustangs, mostly the 83-86.
Ok so about the car. It seems to be a completely stock original 302. The body work and paint were done by another friend of my fathers and looks great. Not sure if they are standard or optional but it has a/c, power windows and power locks. The corbeau seats were chewed up by a squirrel who took over the car while it had been sitting for 2 years.
I'm definitly going to be upgrading the car, I am very adpet with swapping engine and rebuilding them. Brake upgrades may also be in the future as I have seen the 5-lug conversion and it seems to yield more wheel options. From what I have read the heads used on the 86 are inferior to the other years so I suppose that I can just swap them out. My father would like to go forced induction but the motor will certainly need to be rebuilt before that route is taken.
I'll be adding to this thread with any updates and questions I have so I guess you can consider it to be my "build" thread.
Heres some pictures I took today, hope you enjoy. Any comments or suggestions for what I can do to get started would be greatly appreciated!
Poor seats, squirrel was hungry I guess
