So, I'm currently running a Pionner AVIC-Z2 that's upgraded to a Z3. I just put in Dynamat Extreme on the doors and rear deck lid when I put in two pairs of Boston Acoustic S85. I went with them because I didn't want to have to put an amp to them. So far they sound really good. The Dynamat did help a lot, too. It was a little bit of a pain in the ass to put on the doors though.

Now this brings me to my next question. I wanted to do a sub in the trunk but decided I didn't want to take up any space back there. I'd like to replace the 8" subs in the door and mount a small amp to power them under the passenger seat. I'm looking at the Kicker and Pioneer shallow mounts as of right now. I hear the Pioneers will actually fit in the door without modification. I don't care if I have to modify it to fit either. I just want it to look good and sound good. Does anyone have any input on what they used or pictures, etc.

Thanks in advance !!

5.0L Mustang Magazine website has a full how to for putting in the shallow mount pioneer. Ive seen 8" rockfords in but not sure what they had to do. Dont have a link for that but i know its on cardomain.

Hey Nasty, I just installed the Kicker CVT-8s a few weeks ago, not a huge deal, had to use a heat gun to melt some plastic, but overall it's great. I'm currently running them off of a 75x2 4 ohm amp, so each one is getting around 150 watts RMS at 2 ohms to each one and it sounds pretty darn good. I've got a 12" type R in the trunk too, but I can turn that down and still get really tight, punch bass up front from the Kickers. I even kept the stock enclosure sealed, I figured that's better than free air. Anyways, I didn't take any pictures of the install, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Can you guys take some pictures for me? I've already got Dynamat Extreme on my doors so I'm set there. I know a door isn't a fiberglass box or anything. I'm just looking to get around 100w RMS out of each sub and mount a small amp underneath the passenger seat. I'm kind of leaning towards the Pioneers though. I need to talk to Zip, I guess.

Nope, not yet... Honestly, there is no noticeable rattle. My brother is really into car audio, has about 5ish grand into his own car, he thinks it sounds pretty darn good, I'm going to dynomat once I stick in some components though. Our doors are on there pretty solid!
