Ok so I got an offer to pick up a t-5 tranny with conversion kit, pedals, and rebuild kit for 200$ should i do it and do the conversion kit myself? Or what do you guys think? And how long will an upper and lower intake do you guys think its a good idea?

An intake manifold job can be intimidating for some. It's not all that hard to do. If you don't have all the tools, there's no sense in tackling that job, much less a T-5 swap.:no In my opinion, I would do a T-5 swap, a few power shifts and the transmission will be toast anyhow and need another rebuild. If you are swapping to a 5 speed, look into a G-Force or TKO 500 or TKO 600. They hold up much better. I'd rather have a built automatic than a stick shift any day.:tomato

+1 on the built clicker, but I have told you this in the past......you can build a bad ass auto that will handle more power than that t5 any day of the week. But if you are not planning any mods and just want to rip on the car with stock power than just put in the 5 spd it will "seem" faster to you

a T5 should be okay with 350 RWHP as long as you don't beat on it constantly.

yeah just wait till they get a good hook on drag radials......will sound like someone shaking a coffee can full of nails.....IDK I have seen some T5's take beatings ryan dumped some major beatings on his and was ok
Personally I think you should get one of those power 24/7 fukker transmissions

just depends on if you power shift or not. there are guys all around my town with 331 and 347's putting down around 400 ft lbs of torque using t5's.

very true, i power shifted mine alot after i got it, and 2nd gear is about shot, when i'm downshifting into 2nd gear the only way i can get it in without grinding or popping outta gear is to rev it up to about 3000 and slide it in easy while the rpms are falling back down, and i have very little power at all,

Yeah well from the looks of your avie and from reading some of your posts you beat the hell out of that thing..:D..you can take a brand new mustang with a 5 spd and trash the trans in a week if you really try

my baby likes it rough :D

but i agree i don't beat on it as much anymore but in the 1st 3 or 4 months i owned the car i beat the dog **** out of it. But now 2nd has gotten so bad i rarely use 2nd when i'm just driving around town, its usually 1st-3rd-4th.

its honestly very worth it to swap it all over. its not like a AOD is exactly a strong tranny either. At least with the T5 you can keep the car in the right power range without tearing it up.

Theres alot that goes into a T5 swap... Its not just plug and play, you will have to fabricate a few things. If your "skill level is not so good" then I would recomend getting with a buddy who knows his **** and drink beer and help him out.

You are wrong there...the aod with very little money can be built to handle 700-1000 HP a t5, I dont care what you do will never handle that

what you mean i've got 1000 hp!!!

and yea i know you can make a AOD handle that but i've always heard of people just slapping a C4 in the car. they hold up pretty good.

agreed for street cars but alot of people with strip cars use automatics for consistancy...its all in what you wanna do with the car.
