I like my automatic but i would prefer a C-6,i have an AOD,I'm running 3.73 and they do good and it will do better after this weekend when i'm done installing my twin turbos :) but automatics can't handle too much power specially an AOD,max power it can handle built and everything 400 hp.so i'm prepared to kill mine.

A well built automatic will handle alot of power. Manual transmissions are usually the weak transmissions.

You can get an AOD built to handle over 400 hp easy. Add a nice stall and a trans brake and you will own alot of manuals. Autos are so much more consistent. My 90 will stay an auto, but i am in the market for another fox now. I have a few in mind.

I'll tell you what. You and Darrell do a little work on putting his motor and someones C4 in your roller, and i will buy it all for $7500 in a month or so! Deal.

I have to agree, autos are faster off the line for most people. There are a few stick drivers who can out-launch an automatic, but they're few and far between.

Insofar as your mods, I'd suggest doing the gears first, and see how it feels from there.

If this is a DD, I'd try to keep the AOD over a C4. I know you said you don't care about gas mileage, but think of the money spent there from losing that overdrive versus the mods you could be buying.

And most of all, have fun!

I have a PA (Performance Automatic) C4 Super Streeter with a B&M Hammer Shifter, and I love it it shifts hard and I Still get 20 miles to the gallon ( with 3.90 gears). I would suggest a 3.73 with this. AOD's are kind of expensive to build where they will really stand up to racing. And if you don't mind a few extra rpm's on the highway this is the way i would go.

You get get the transmission from Jegs for 934.99. Rated for 450hp. You will spend almost that on a transmission rebuild. The shifter is 249.99 and is a drop in fit for a fox mustang. The same transmission in an AOD rated for 450 hp is 1724.99.

That is awesome. i didnt know the stock aod would hold 450. I mean i am still going to get it rebuilt but damn that is awesome. I am putting 4:30s in my rear. I have a buddy who runs the same thing and i like it alot. about 2700 at 70 mph down the interstate. Not too bad.

ran 15.2 all stock back in the fall. launched at a little above idle with the aod.

Now i have a few more goodies on it. Pullies, K&N filter, Mac LTs, MAc o/r h pipe, flowmaster 40 series mufflers dumped. Getting ready to delete the smog and a/c.

just ordered some Gt40P heads and intake, I got a B cam but I am waiting for the heads to get here before i put it in. I have the 4:30 gears, still waiting on install, as with the valve body and 2200-2800 stall. I got some M/T slicks for the track.

should put down decent track numbers. But I have changed my mind in making this car a "drag" car. This is going to remain my daily driver. Just throw in a few more things.

I will run it when i get the rest of the stuff on, and let you know what it did.

I am saving for a 408 turbo build and throw it in a coupe foxbody or SN95. Piece it together one piece at a time and just take my time, buy the good parts, and do it right.

With an auto you could throw a brick through the rear window and if it landed on the gas pedal right it could drive your car through the 1/4 mile. I like something a little more challenging than something a brick can do, thats why I like banging gears myself. Plus its jus so much more fun.

Mods

Well I Think Where Everyone Goes Wrong When Buildin Their Cars Up Is All They Want Is HORSEPOWER, HORSEPOWER, HORSEPOWER. U Cant Do Anything With Horsepower If U Can Get It To Stick. My Buddy Has An 03 Sonic Cobra With A Kenny Bell, He Is Pushin Like 600 Hp, But He Cant Get It To Stick So He Runs Like ****. I Like To Build Things Up And Then Worry About HP. I Had A Couple Mods On My 94gt And Then I Beefed Up My RearEnd, Trans, And Suspension, Shortly I Will Be Workin On Heads,Cam,And Spray.

So My Key To You Is Try Making Everything Handle The Hp, And Makin A Nice Suspension Set Up To Let Your Car Dig When You Get All That HP.
