so i flushed the coolant and i poured in half a gallon of coolant in and started my way home and my cars meter is on the H any ideas?? do i need to just wait to add more coolant ?? i just looked and its all in the over flow tank any ideas??

Did you fill it, start the car, then top it off while it's running and hot, turn off the car, let it cool down completely, top it off, start the car, and let it heat up again, top it off, then shut it off, let it cool down and check the cold fill level? Cuz if not then you've got air in your heads and you should let it cool down completely and follow the procedure above.

well i poured in enough to get it full after i flushed it and then i drove and had to stop then i looked and the overflow tank is all most full .... so u saying i shuld pour more coolant in the radiator for sure???

hey thanks so now i just let it cool down and do as u wrote lol when u say start the car leave the cap off untill its warmed up then fill it again...
Yup.

Did you purge the system, you might have an air bubble cought in the system.... Maybe the thermostat is stuck?.... Bad Water pump?

what started this problem, is this the first time this has happened? No, you want to have the car running, let it get to operating temp.(when the thermostat opens) you'll notice the fluid level drop at the radiator cap. Keep filling until it is at operating temp. and no-longer overflows coolant/water. put cap back on, should be fine. Assuming this is the only problem.

no this has never happen i just wanted to flush coolant so i shuld dump out whats in the overflow tank cuz its all most full then leave cap off and when its at operating temp the radiator fluid wile go down and i shuld be able to pour more in untill it stops trying to over heat...does this sound righ??

is it very cold where you're at??
