By the way ATK I have heard its better to go with a 331 than a 347 cause the 331 will last longer and that 347's have issues with the wristpin intersection causing oil to blow by or the motor burns oil or something
 
Not sure if you are attempting to smear our company, products, or image, but you are entitled to your opinion. Your remarks are duly noted, and we appreciate any feedback.

ATK strives to provide customers with what THEY WANT, not what is merely available. Yes, we do offer complete engine packages, with the hp levels people seek. We use many different vendors (Edelbrock, Comp, Scat, Eagle, TRW for example), as well as Patriot, PRW, etc. - engines are priced accordingly, and, should a customer SPECIFY certain components, we cater to them. Regarding the roller block, that is usually the foundation used, however, we also have available the early blocks - again, this is at the customers request, as we build custom engines in our high performance division.


You are obviously happy/content with your current engine builder, otherwise, you wouldn't be mentioning him. It is a matter of personal choice to the consumer. We, ATK, are not going to negatively remark about other engine builders, as we are not in the e-warrior business - we are in the engine building business, and have successfully done so for several years. If you wish for a list of specific parts we use (as there are many), please feel free to contact me/provide your email address via pm and I will gladly send you a list of vendors we use.


To everyone else, please bear in mind again that the prices on our website include shipping/handling, and we do not require/charge for a core (something that isn't usually included when quoting products such as these).
First off, I'm not attempting to smear your company or products. I call things how I see them and I think I have enough experience that qualifies me to do that. You have dodged the question. I asked what comes in that $2755 short block. Are you saying it will come with whatever parts the customer wants for $2755? If not, then please answer my question. What block is used and what internals for $2755?

Secondly, Ford Strokers is not my engine builder. I have bought parts from Jim Woods though and I know many people that have. I also know what products he carries and what packages he offers. His website is very detailed. People know what they are going to get just by looking at the website. I was using it as an example, not as a promotional tool.
 
The 410hp rating is designed for longevity at this performance level. Yes, there are other 347s that can/do make more power, however, what is the life expectancy of those? We have designed a durable platform, which is a repeatable combination, that we offer to customers (using pump gas in NA form).
I don't know, I just sold a 347 that I've had for 6 years that has close to 100,000 miles on it and has only been apart for a head swap. It made just over 400hp to the tire thru an automatic on a Mustang Dyno. Pretty reliable in my eyes. As a matter of fact the new owner just had it tuned for E85 and it laid down just over 430hp on E85.

Speaking of longevity, I built a 306 back in 2001ish that made over 40hp at the flywheel (about 330rwhp). Over 100,000 miles on that engine too and still running strong. Gets 25mpg on the highway too.

Most likely he was googling the company name to find out what websites were talking about the company and then go to those sites to promote. Businesses do this all the time. It happens here fairly often.

Talk about vague.... So basically you don't have specific products that you use, you use whatever is available. Probably whatever you can find on closeouts like some other companies do. I use to buy up lots from bankrupt businesses so I'm somewhat familiar with this. What I find slightly humours is your website is saying that you use "what is available" yet in a previous post you said "ATK strives to provide customers with what THEY WANT, not what is merely available". Your website is telling me that you use what is available in the kits you offer and what I'm getting out of what you are posting on here is the customer can get what they want for an added expense. I guess that makes sense since you couldn't tell me what internals were in your 347 kit and your website doesn't list what internals are in the kit either.....because you don't always know what brands are going to be available at any given time. Thanks for clearing that up.
 
I believe I was the one who said you were hit and miss. I have sold a bunch of your stock rebuilt motors, and I have had a third come back with either problems from assembly or just parts that shouldnt have made it through. I know stuff happens, but more than a time or two in 3 yrs is a little tough when selling something that starts at 1300.

one motor had 3 different sized main bearings, no big deal, it fills the gaps right? why not just machine them all to one size?

86er, it appears you purchased OE direct replacement engines, not a HP version...if so, did you address the issues with our warranty department for a resolution on said engines? I personally cannot answer for practices in past, however, the company has changed ownership recently (within past couple of years) and many changes (for the better) have been made in the area of quality control/workmanship.

I believe the original posters question is regarding our HP 347 (FORD 347 STROKER 69-97 SHORT BLOCK: High Performance Engines | ATK Custom Built Crate Engines), not the OE replacements.

You didnt answer my question...is it better to do a 331 than a 347 because of that issue with burning/blowing oil with the wristpin intersection. And wont the 331 outlast a 347?

Why can't you just say what parts are used in your 347 kit that is aforementioned? I wouldn't buy the short block unless I knew what the company was using in it.....

Secondly, I have no animosity toward your company. You are digging a hole with the comments you are making and I'm just exploiting those holes. How you have dug holes I have outlined in previous posts and you have avoided responding to those posts. Maybe your company needs to hire a new public relations manager...

If I was a betting man, I'd bet that he can't say what parts they are using because they differ from engine to engine due to the fact that they use whatever is available. Probably use alot of blems and bought up items from bankrupt companies so the product line isn't consistent.

yeah thats what i am thinking. i mean, for the price thats fine but its all about being honest with potential customers.

ATK was on the motors I sold and had to return and loose the sales on, he asked about ATK motors, I gave my dealings with ATK.

If ATK cant handle a STOCK rebuild, how is a performance motor gonna handle.

The only thing that really chapped my ass, was atk wouldnt do anything until I sent the motor back to them. So that ment I had to refund the customer, send the motor back, 2-3 days, wait for them to inspect it, then another 2-3 days before I saw another motor. Customer said thanks but no thanks and left me out to dry on a 2200 sale with other parts needed.

If you all have changed great, and I hope you have, but man, I got ****ed

Sending stock rebuilt replacements out the door en mass as a commodity for 75 years is great and fine for most people that need a replacement engine. Applying the same business processes and potentially random internals and marketing them as high performance for a premium is going to raise questions. They may be outstanding engines but based on the information about the engines on your site, we have no idea what makes it any better than a Jasper reman other than yours contain "forged" parts. Just an observation..
