I currently work at best buy part time, so: as the name implies, basic installation is included. Installation is never basic. They are going to tack on a few 5-7 dollar items, all of which are on hand, you don't have to get anything, adding another 30ish dollars to the cost. They will not charge you for the labor. Hope this answers your question.

Speaking of which, anyone in raleigh looking for a new system, let me know, we get some killer discounts on car audio.

^+1. i worked there for 4 years as their lead tech. if you havent already paid for it then here it is.

Basic installation is included into the price of the unit...
You will get charged a $5 materials fee for connectors, zip ties, electrical tape, etc....
If you want them to do trunk pop then they will charge you an extra $35 (if they havent changed the prices)
other then those that is all you are going to need.
***You do not need a bypass for your car***

They may charge your a "custom labor" as when they tie into your door trigger wires it will say that they need to "Diode Isolate" each wire as to prevent feedback into the viper causing a "false" trigger. With that being said, they can do it this way (which might cost you an extra $15) or you can tell them to just tap into your "domelight supervision wire" as this is tied into the door triggers and as soon as the doors open then the alarm goes off. If they do this tell them that they need to turn the "Bypass Notification" OFF.

other then these things nothing else is needed. You will not need any relay's or anything else, so if they try and tell you need anything like this "THEY ARE FOS!!!"

Hey guys i just went up there and got a quote on a install and this is what they said...Viper 350HV alarm $249,Bypass $79,Need extra key for bypass $90,installion of bypass $35...Which brings a total of $453,thats like $200 extra..You bestbuy guys does this sound right?

Yes, that could very well be true, the bypass is 80 dollars, and install is 40. I have never heard of needing a seperate key for the bypass though. I don't work back there in the install, so honestly I am not sure, but I am at Best Buy now, I will ask one of them and get a better answer.

Ok the answer he gave me is you don't necessarily need to BUY a bypass key, he said that they have one back there, owned by the store, that they can use on it one time and you don't need your own. I told him it was an 02 and he is fairly certain that you won't need a bypass key.

Maybe call them back or pay them another visit and save 80 bucks?

damn thanks man for helping me out!!!i dont understang why i would need a extra key if its not going to lose it like it used to be.my brother had a alarm systme a few yrs ago and he had to have a mustang key made and i guess they put it in the module or watever so he lost it,thats a waste..the guy told me up there they no longer do that and i wouldnt lose the second key, well if im not gonna lose it why do i have to have it in the first place?!

This is not right!!!!! the 350hv is just an alarm/keyless system!!!! there is no bypass needed!!!! the bypass they are talking about is in order to remote start the vehicle, in which yours does not have this feature. Take it somewhere else!!!!!!

with the bypass modules they have now some vehicles require you only bring one key in as they have the same code for each key. With fords they have a seperate code on each key and they need to be programmed into the modules. They have some that require you to leave one of your keys inside the unit (556UW) and some where you need to bring both keys in so that they can program both codes into your bypass (Xk04). then they have the new CANMAX systems but they still need both keys in order to start the vehicle up. I think what your installers are talking about is the XPRESSKITS firmware/flashing program where the "Store" owns it and they flash the module to the year, make, and model but they are still going to need keys in order to program it. There is no program that has all the codes to each vehicle. If there was there would be no reason at all for you to take your car to the dealership, look up your vin, connect to your ECU, retrieve the codes, then program them into your new key. Just FYI

No worries, It is not my bay working on his car anyways. Just relaying what my guy told me, and I probably didn't relay his story correctly anyways.

But dont give up on Best Buy just because they gave you the wrong quote, one thing I can say about them, is that if they make a mistake they will do whatever they can to make it right.
