Stupid question I know but DMV is refusing to sign the title of my 96 Cobra over to me until I pass emissions (already failed once) I have straight pipes to single chamber mufflers and rather not order stock exhaust. I work in an exhaust shop but am only able to get the stock gt h pipe which apparently is different from the cobra. Anybody know any loop holes lol

pay someone to just let you pass at their shop, usually runs like 200-300, thats the only way i see this happening... unless you have no CEL and you're car will pass the sniffer without cats...

Where are you located? Have you passed the obdII scan but failed the visual, or just failed the scan? You can buy a set of MIL eliminators from AmericanMuscle.com for a great price if you check the vendor section. If they are doing avisual inspection then you'd have to put in some cats ( or at least some hollowed out ones).

Or you could just weld in a set of high flow cats seens as you already work at the muffler shop.

As stated above, it depends where you're located. If you don't require a visual and just require an OBDII then you can pass with straight pipes and MIL eliminators. If you require a visual then you'll need cats on there which you can weld cats in or weld in gutted cats.

I'm located in Connecticut not familiar I know it didn't pass the scan and I'm pretty sure they do visual in connecticut. Would the MIL eliminators let me pass the scan? Do they do a sniffer test for a 12 year old car in Connecticut? Thanks for all the help very much appreciated!

I currently don't have any CEL's but when they scan it the controlled auxiliary emission controls, 02 sensor heater circuit bank 1 and bank 2 sensor, man. controlled fuel and air metering, all these codes still show up. Will the MIL eliminator not show them?

Anybody know any shops in Connecticut I could pay to pass me?

That is illegal. registration and smog are 2 different things. they have to give you the title to the car if you outright own it. If you do not pass inspection then they can give you a little "fail" sticker and you may be pulled over and ticketed, but regardless, what they are doing is illegal. I would speak to a senator.

As far as actually passing, just go borrow a used mid pipe from somewhere or buy one from craigslist.

The only thing the eliminators do is change the reading of the 2 rear O2 sensors, creating a flat signal to the pcm to make it think that the catalytic converters are doing the job right. If you have an O2 heater code, or banks running rich or lean the mil eliminators wouldn't work.

Hows the emissons tests around new haven and West haven? I have H pipe and flowmasters for my 00 GT and no cats...i need to pass before friday...Let me know if anyone knows of a place that will pass me..thanks!
