Im lookin at a 97 Cobra with 93k on the clock for $5,000, havent seen it yet, but Im wondering if you guys would buy it or not there is some issues with it, and to get this I would be selling my 96 GT. Im just curious as to if it is more work then its worth and if I should just save up and get a nicer one. Here is what he had to say in his email...
(i just had a new lower end put in the car thats why im not dumping ne more money into it!
But the tick noise i was told is the infamous ford head tick which some cobras got it some didnt. the lincoln mercury dealer said its common amougnst the 96 97 mid year cobra they couldnt tell me why the noise is made they just said by new heads and you wont have the problem ne more. i bought a set of heads(used) but knowingly good and 03 cobra cams 395 lift stock 97 cobras are (385) i will include all of the extras i have in the sale.
i have a 6 bolt forged steel crank 1 teksid alum block set of heads with cams. the car runs and drives perfect right now it does smoke when you rev it but i was told the heads need valve guides and seals. the other heads i know have had this work already done to them. the car has a new clutch in it but not adjusted correctly. the teksid block has a rod knock but you could build it while you drive it with the other motor! thats why i bought it. its not a show car but a very nice car and for this price you wont find a cobra!)
