Best gains will come from tossing out the crappy stock heads. Look for a set of GT40 or GT40P's in your local junkyard.
yeah i was at a yard today actually only found some v6 explorers not 8's. do those come on all year explorers? and will i have to do anything else to make them work right? intake or maf?

If you want a rough idle, buy one of those thumper roller cams. then dont tell anyone you bought it. Say its a custom grind from "Hoove Hearted Custom Cams".

You can gain quite a bit of power from getting rid of some accessories. Electric fan, dump the air pump, A/C if you dont need it, and a set of under drive pullies. You can do all that for less than $200 and probably get atleast 20-30hp.
I was looking at summit i seen some pully's and a/c and smog pump delete's seems to be and nice upgrades. and in the future i want to install a turbo so i will need the a/c gone anyways.

just keep the stock cam and put on some 1.7 roller rockers....your stock gears are probly 2.73 if 5 speed and probly 3.08 if auto.....if 5 speed go to 3.73 and 4.10 if auto

mass air flow, and gears what size? and whats stock size? (i know i could look that up but you all know the answers)
i've got 4.30's in mine and i love it, but other than gears, pulley's. but best gains you'll see if you can come up with $1000 is a set of GT40 heads, GT40 intake, and Alphabet cam you can get all that used for probably all under 1000

how does those GT40's stand up against these Summit Racing Street & Strip® Stage 1 Intake Manifolds or the stage 2??

Dont you need a 3G alternator to run an electric fan though? thus putting you over 200$?
