Yes it is alot like that. You can adjust every table that exists in our cars with it. I think mainly the gm guys use it and they just recently started supporting the late model stangs.
However the methodology for tuning the cars should be exactly the same between sct and hp tuners. And that is what i am having a hard time learning. What do you sct guys do as far as calibrating the MAF and adjusting spark and fuel trim etc... ?

Hmmm didnt know HP Tuners was supporting ford, we used it for GM.

If you don't know what you are doing with it you can really screw some things up.

My experience with them has been that their tech support/customer service sucks. It always was a pain to get ahold of them. Its a relatively small company and they only correspond via e-mail.
Maybe since they are expanding their horizions that has changed.

Lol, exactly why im having a hard time learning. You almost have to have taken classes to learn how to use it. No instructions or anything. Yes they support 2005 and up mustangs now, im using someone elses tune for time being which is fine for now, but the main reason of having it is so i can tweak as I add more mods to the car. I can see im in for a long bumpy ride here.

Honeslty tuning is one of those things left better to the professionals. Find someone to do it for you is my suggestion :D

Really it isnt as bad as you think. As long as you have a good wideband so you know where you are at in relation to stoich amd pay attention to knock retard it should never get screwed up. The dyno tuners use similar software that do the exact same thing, the difference is that they make their pulls on the dyno and im making my pulls on the street, and they have a horsepower and torque readout to know how their changes affected the car. I have only AFR, KR and so on.
Once i have the method down, it should be NEARLY as good as a dyno tune.

And honestly, the pros had to learn it, why cant we?

You can, but when you blow up your motor due to a mistake or oversight...its only you to blame.

When A shop tunes it, and makes a mistake, there is a LOT bigger chance that they will do something to fix what they have done, than you sitting there saying **** repeatedly...lol

My buddy at work uses it for his procharged GTO, he loves it
So far I love it also. I have a tune in my car right now from a guy that tuned his 06 with hp tuners, and it smokes the old diablo tune i had in my old car.
Believe me i realize i cant blame anyone but myself for blowing up my engine.
Thing is, even if you **** up your tune so baddly that it could damage your engine, it will go into failsafe mode and anyone that isnt retarded would kill it.
Links to people that have actually blown their engines with hp tuners?

nvm, sorry guys i didnt mean to come off as rude if i did, i was just looking for help with tuning. Ill keep trying the hp tuners site till someone responds.

LOL the problem doesnt have to be MAJOR for you to blow your engine.............Hell it could not even be noticable while driving to most people. Dont think failsafe mode is going to save your ass, because it wont. You think most people REALIZE their engine is about to blow???? No, they have this look on their face like, "wtf just happend?!"

Not trying to come off as an ass, but it is an aquired skill. There is training involved. and ALOT of research. Professional tuners don't just say hey, i'm gonna buy a tuning software and learn how to tune myself. They go to school. Good luck doing it man, i'm sure you will get it figured out eventually, just gonna be a bumpy road for you.

Thanks, im reading through a book by greg banish right now
( i know lol i bought a book and i r gunna lrn 2 tun lol duh) Like i said i would have bought a different tuner, probably a handheld, but i had 2 other ppl going in on this with me so it saved alot of money. I can still get the right tunes from others till i figure it out. It does interest me though so im thrilled about learning. Just gotta watch what i do on forums i guess. Between the 3 of us...well figure it out.

thats cool man..............I've honestly wanted to learn about it as well. My dream job is to open my own performance shop (whos isnt?!? lol)......I would LOVE to learn how to tune a car, I just don't have time. Its so much easier to take it to a reputable shop and pay them a couple hundred bucks and have the car in a day......maybe one day i'll buy a dyno and get SCT certified and all that. When i'm 80 years old and have alot of money saved up lol

That's a pretty bold statement there. Maybe I should put that on the dyno waiver.............;)

Hey man i was wrong about that and I have absolutely no problem admitting it. It may take a long while to finish tuning my car, but when i do ill go get it dyno'd just to see where im at and I'll gladly post all of my results.

Hp Tuners is far superior to SCT. I tune most of my Ford customers with SCT and we tune all of our Gm vehicles with HP Tuners. The ease of use and scanning ability is far above anything SCT has to offer. Custom PID's, Histograms, copy/paste functions from scanner to editor. The list goes on and on.
