I think the housing is an 8.8.. Just get the heavy axles like you said...
 
+1 Not worth it IMO. You can build a GREAT solid rear suspension. Unless your just doing it for bragging rights I would say pass on that idea. The only way is like I said, bragging rights and maybe just for doing something different.

not many roads are even in the real world.

I dont understand why they work that well at the dragstrip.Ive seen some
fast vettes at the strip hookin pretty well with irs.

the vette's IRS was built right. the stang's IRS was an after thought and was made to be interchangeable with the solid rear axle assembly so ford compromised alot with it.

Yeah the Vette has had IRS for how many years? Lots.. Prob one of the reasons it works so well.. Years and years of improvements..
