The block shouldnt have anything to do with the balance. You said you got a stroker kit already correct? they should be able to balance it correctly with dampner and flexplate

You have a 50oz balance motor now, so if your stroker is 28oz,you will need a new flywheel and harmonic balanced.

Question is, Is the rotating assembly of the new stroker kit even balanced yet? Mine wasnt for my 383 and it was balanced to what I supplied them

Yeah its a balanced kit. Comes to my door guaranteed balanced.
Then I would find out what they balanced it to, usually if its a balanced kit they come with dampner and flexplate, but not all the time

Then i would ask them what they balanced it to so you can get the correct flexplate and dampner

Send it back and contact woody at FordStrokers.com 331-347-393-408-418-427 stroker kits and ford parts. and get a CHP and have it balanced. How can they guarantee its balanced without having the whole rotating assembly and your block, flexplate, and exact damper? I have heard horror stories about pre balanced rotating assemblies. Hopefully that marked each piston, set of rings, and rods to which position that it was in when they balanced it if nothing else.

all the rods and the pistons should weigh the same. they take the lightest rod and take material off the others until the weigh the same as the lightest one, and do the same thing with the pistons so it shouldnt matter if they are numbered or not since they should all weigh the same. But yes, how do they know exactly balanced without having everything.

key word being should. I have always been told its best to have them in the same place and setup as it was balanced..... And when buying these "pre-balanced" budget stroker "kits" you think they even weighed the pistons, rings, and rods? Its probably spit out of a big machine and is "SUPPOSED" to be made balanced....

yeah it could be. i always buy mine unbalanced and just bring everything to the machine shop and have them balance it all together. I brought them the dampner out of my 86 that was brand new and they ordered the correct flex plate to balance it all. Would really suck if the internally balanced it when its really supposed to be external balanced.

+1 and who knows with some of this crap they mass produce you could probably call them for support and they might not even know what the hell you are talking about. I forget but I called one company I saw that was selling cheap rotating assemblies online and said they were "pre-balanced" and I asked them what balance and it took 3-4 different people and about 45 mins and they came back with "well its either 28 or 50 depending on what damper you are running" NICE obviously I went with woody and CHP

I guess a good question would be: What brand of rotating assembly did your grandpa buy Mcdoogle?
