Cobra Exhaust Fit?

Hey guys I havent really posted here in a while but I got a little 96 v6 project and was wondering if I could use a stock 1998 cobra catback for a dual exhaust system. On my old 99 I used a stock system off an 01 gt but I'm not sure if a cobra exhaust will work. Anyone know?

I believe so, If its cat back. The main concern is if you did it right off the headers, becuase its a differnt angle then 6's

Yeah I'm not sure if it would line up without fabrication. Also, did those Cobra's have IRS? I know the New Edge does and the exhaust is routed different because of it.

Nope the 98 cobras don't have IRS. I believe they started putting IRS in cobras starting in 2001. I know that a midpipe would need to be fabbed up but is there anything that would need to be done besides this?

the hangers near the rear bumper are different, not a big deal. just get some hanger from an autoparts store that fit the catback.

other than that and fabbing up a mid-pipe, they will fit fine.

Cobra's got the IRS in 99

Yeah there ya go, wasn't sure what year they first got it. The hangers are simple to fab/change, etc. You should be good.

The piping size is 2.5". Is that 2 big? I wanna say that the dual exhaust I put on my 99 was 2.25...

I think 2.25 is our stock size, but I think a shop can make 2.5 work.

Stock is 2.25 My shop ran 2.5 on my so my entire system is 1/4" bigger. But ya it will work. just need reducers on the end. Are you getting headers? Some headers have 2.5" collectors anyways.
