I am currently replacing my tranny and I was wondering if I should replace my spec stg 2 clutch I installed it about 15k miles ago. And haven't raced it a whole lot since my tranny broke down on me? Anybody know how long they last ??

PS. If anyone knows a reputable mustang performance shop in the state of Florida that rebuilds motors let me know cause im trying to rebuild my 4.6 DOHC with forged internals. thnx

My Spec clutch sucked and the Spec supplied Throw out bearing broke in two and cracked with in 10 Miles of use on the new clutch, I have installed many many clutches and never had this problem...So if you really have your heart set on a Spec be sure to get a Ford OEM throttle body.

I've got a spec stage 3 in my srt-4 and have had 0 problems out of it and it's got 14k miles on it.

Well I never had problems with mine but the last few thousand miles I got out of it, it was ROCK solid. Sitting it traffic would make your leg cramp up, I will never buy one, only had it cause it came in the car (stage 2)

Never heard of that they usualy get weaker. I'll be putting a spec stage 3+ in my stang soon and report back how it feels.

never had a problem with any of my specs that I have ran in my vehilce as well as the previous ones. Just make sure to use the Ford Racing TOB with just about any aftermarket clutch. and why are you going with a 3+ clutch?

Because I bought it and a findinza aluminum flywheel for 225. Just couldn't pass that kind of deal up.

keep the flywheel and sell the clutch. thats too much clutch for what you are running and probably end up snappingoff the input shaft

exactly

Your cobra has a t-56 to my gt's 3650. I don't think I'll snap my input shaft with the power I'm making at this current time. Also how many of you have checked out the + series clutchs from spec? They aren't as agressive as most would think. The stage 3+ is a full face clutch not a puck style clutch.

Here's what spec's site says about this series of clutch.
The flagship stage for a high powered street or race car that requires a manageable and friendly engagement, the stage 3+ features a carbon semi-metallic full faced material that offers unparalleled life, friction co-efficient and drivability characteristics in one single package. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility and heat treated components for strength and durability. Great for street, drag, drift, autocross, road racing, pulling, rallye and drift.

High clamp pressure plate
Carbon semi-metallic friction material
High torque sprung hub and disc assembly
Bearing and tool kit

It's good to know it's stood up to the abuse of a car that makes quite a bit more power then mine.

I think the OP is saying he has the clutch in, is getting a new tranny and wants to know if he should reuse it with the new one. Id say do that but just replace the TOB and get the flywheel checked out.

As long as the clutch was okay before I don't know why you'd replace it now. Once that one goes to **** though, I wouldn't replace it with another spec though. I'd go king cobra, fidanza, or centerforce

Yeah got alittle side tracked. Yes your correct a new tob is a must as well as making sure that the flywheel is ok.
