For shops to refuse to install parts unless you buy the parts from them? I was at work today looking at my schedule and realized I could probably get a few days off over spring break to get my car in to get my clutch, gears, and tlok installed and possibly even get the windshield replaced. So I txted my mom and had her call up the main transmission shop around here to see what it would cost for the install. She's not a car person so she just wrote down what she could understand and they said $250 for labor, $40 for resurfacing the flywheel (both of these I found reasonable), and $200 for a new pressure plate + release bearing + clutch disk. The way she understood it was that they wouldn't install a clutch I brought in myself. I'll be calling them tomorrow to see what the deal really is but I'm wondering if this is normal or if they got the hint that my mom didn't know what they were talking about and hoped they could **** her over by trying to get her to buy a whole new clutch kit?
