lol whats gunna break and send me to me death that couldnt happen at 75-80mph? Tires would be my biggest concern but thats why I dont run cheap ass tires either.
It could I guess, but my chances of getting hit by a drunk driver are probably more likley. I dont hit those speeds on a regular basis, but I do like to open her up once in awhile and I have trust in my car and my driving abilities. Anything could happen at anytime really, just a risk we all take everytime we get behind the wheel. But as a precaution I buy the best parts I can and maintain/inspect everything myself on a regular basis. The rush just beats the fear, if I had to worry about all the "what ifs" in life, Id never leave my house.
Your logic on this one is incredibly wrong, Matt.
LOTS of things could break at those speeds and kill you.
There is a difference between not worrying about 'what ifs', and not thinking rationally.
And it's not just what could happen to your car. You get driving more than 70-80 mph on public roads, and the danger level rises astronomically. Not just because of what 'might' blow up. Simple physics. It takes far longer to stop your Mustang from just 80 mph than it does from 60. Even with suspension modifications, your Mustang does not handle as well at 80+ mph as it does at 60. There is a huge difference from 60-80 mph. Huge.
Then, we have to take into account that public roads are not meant to be driven on at those speeds. You could hit an oily spot, a pothole, something laying in the road. They aren't maintained to perfection like a track is, because it's just not possible to do so. The DOT does their best keeping the roads in good shape, but if you haven't randomly seen something laying on the road, be it a piece of steel, a gator from a tractor trailer, a ladder, or whatever, then you haven't been driving very long.
Good luck hitting something like that at 80+ mph. And the best tires in the world aren't going to save you from hitting even a large bolt at those speeds.
