That's what I figured, almost $600 for exhaust sounded a little harsh. But from what i heard online MAC sounded way better than catted with flowmasters.

Doesn't Magnaflow acoustical wrap go bad after time, leading to a decrease in good sound characteristics?

Ok... so i think I've started making the list better now. I think I'm gonna take the MAC o/r h with 2 flowmasters (cause they are cheaper) and just put the exhaust coming out in front of the rear tires myself for the cheap. What about the Pypes o/r X for the extra performance?

Do you want to go catless? O/r midpipes have no cats. As long as you don't have emissions you should be fine without cats. If I were you, I'd check with some local exhaust shops and see what they would charge to fab an o/r H or X pipe. Chances are you can get it cheaper than buying one from a big name company like MAC or Pypes. Exhaust doesn't do a whole lot on our cars besides change the sound. You'll free up maybe 1-2hp but the aggressive sound is what makes it worth it (to me at least). Just an example: I was pulling into a MacDonalds drive thru the other night and my exhaust kind of echos/sounds louder in semi enclosed areas. Well there was a Vette ahead of me and when he heard me pull up behind him he put on his "race face" and revved his engine at me like I was actually a challenge to him :lol

I have Flowmaster 40s and love them. The only thing I would trade them for would be Thrush Welds. Flows are pretty common on our cars. Some people love them, some people hate them but overall they're a good choice.

With the tuner you'll get free custom tunes which is great. Go for the 93 octane (race) tune. You'll spend around an extra $2.00 every time you fill up, but the advanced timing is worth it.

engine mods will come in time, still planning and waiting for the money to do the entire engine overhaul at one time (after all supporting mods)... it says the race tune should not be used on the road, is that serious or no biggie? and does the race tune degrade the fuel economy much? i was worried about it not being very economic for a daily driver.

Congrats, with the nice exhaust story. What are your other 2 tunes?

Ah it's been a while since I've ordered a tune. Maybe race isn't what it's called. When you select the fuel you want to run it should give you 2 options for each. It should be like 93 economy and 93 performance or race (maybe race is the 110 octane which is a no-no on the road). I recommend ordering one of each. Economy will turn down the power some to improve fuel economy then when it's race time (or you're just feeling the need to smoke those tires and burn some gas) you can upload the performance tune and enjoy the car even more. The performance tune will eat up more gas, but not a ton more. I run my car on the 93 performance tune all the time. I get around 15-18mpg and I'm far from easy on the gas pedal since I got the gears and tlok installed.

I do a lot of highway driving so I love to punch it on the on-ramps and hit the highway doing 65-70mph. It actually pisses some people off. Had an old guy in an SUV floor it to pass me and he gave me the finger as he went by. Apparently it's bad to do the same speed as traffic :dunno

Edit: Oh and a note on the octane. When you have your 93 octane tune uploaded to the car's computer, can CAN NOT run a lower octane. You will hear a pinging which is actually the fuel exploding in the cylinders and will cause the cylinders to become too hot. You have 3 spots on the tuner for custom tunes. Order 1 tune for a low octane with all your mods. You can run a higher octane than you're tuned for, but never lower. Running something like 93 octane on an 87 octane tune just further reduces your chances of detonation without taking advantage of the increase octane with increased timing. Increased timing + high octane fuel = more power.

sweet knowledge.. thank you for the help.. thank you all... how many horses would you guess the tuner on a sweet 93 octane tune gave you?

Does anyone have any comments about bringing the exhaust out in front of the rear tires? With out the whole roush rocker panel.

It looks best if you do it with the Roush skirts. I've seen a pic with the side exhaust just run under the stock skirts and it's alright, but could be better. Looks nicer if you don't run the side exhaust all the way out to the point that it's visible. Another option would be to just do dumps right after the mufflers.

i just figured that dumps would be crazy loud inside the cabin.. but now that i think about it side exhaust wouldn't be much better lol

Yeah I love my Flows, sometimes I just worry they sound a little ricey because they get pretty raspy when the RPMs get up there but I guess that happens with basically any V6 exhaust. I want to redo my exhaust with an o/r midpipe and LT headers and I'm torn on whether or not to change mufflers while I'm at it. Might even wait to do the exhaust until I do an engine swap. Kind of wanting to get a 5.0 and build it up.
