DD Rear Wheels

So I have a 2003 Mach 1 and I want to put deep dish rear wheels on since I need two new tires and have been waiting for them to go. Since I am not the original owner of this car, I am going to assume the bullitt wheels are 17x8 and not 17x9. They are 245/45/17 but I think those tires would fit both so it doesnt really narrow it down.

My question is would the 17x10.5's be the best option if there 8's in the front. I want a nice aggressive stance, and some meat in the back tires. Also where is the best places to get these wheels? I want the real bullitt's and its hard to find them in that size online. I think the majority of what I find are knockoffs. Thanks.

Yes, the 17x10 or 10.5 will look the best, and give a nice staggered look with a deeper dish in the rear. The 'real' bullitt wheels were never offered in that size, only the replicas. You are correct, the OEM wheels are 17x8.

The SR wheels are a pretty good match. When I was drag racing the Bullitt, I ran 10.5's in the back and 8's up front with a small, tall tire on the 8's, and it gave it that big and little look of a drag car. The color is slightly different, but noone ever noticed until I pointed it out to them. It bugged me enough to where I bought the 9" wide wheels for the front so they match perfectly.

go with the 10.5 from CC and get a 315/35/17 tire they are way cheaper than AM and thats were i ordered my wheels from....so offence to AM

About the color, you have a later model mustang, if the wheels are also from a later year i.e 02-04 the replica bullitts will match the color fine. The earlier model bullitt wheels were more of a goldish color I believe and those are the ones that are hard to match, so you should be fine on color. I think CC has them for cheaper so I would buy from there, not to mention both cc and am use the same wheel manufacturer so just go for the better price. The "recommended" tire size on the stock wheels (17x8) is a 245, with 17x9's they say to run a 275 and with 17x10.5's a 315. Now there have been many debates saying that a 275 is too wide for a 9 inch wheel, so a lot of guys will run a 255/265 and they say the fit is much better. I run 245's on my 9 inch wheels up front and you can see that they fit fine but are a bit stretched in my sig. Keep in mind all companies have different standards of measurement so you don't have to be right on the money (some say nittos run small for example). If you have 245's on your car that you would like to use on 9 inch wheels I would say you're fine because I drive my car hard with that setup and it hasn't failed me in almost 2 years time now. As far as the whole "staggered" look goes, 17x9's will accent the 10.5's out back much better then the stock wheels because they lack any sort of lip. However many guys use the stock 8's up front and just buy DD's for the rear and it looks okay. It's all personal preferance but I would say keep your stock wheels up front for now, buy the DD's and some 315/35 tires, throw them on and if you aren't happy with it you can always buy some 9's for the front and reuse your tires you have now :yes

So just got my 17x10.5's in the mail today, and tried to order some tires from my local shop. They pretty much said that I would rub no matter what anyone has said, and that they will not mount a tire on that rim since its "too dangerous."

From what I've read most people who do not lower their cars and have stock suspension dont have problems, also I have the roush side exhaust system so I do not even have pipes running back there (Any Mach 1's mount these?).
My problem now is whats up with this company not mounting the tires. Anyone have any recommendations on 315/35's for me. Nitto, BFG, etc... And then maybe a chain tire wholesaler who will lol.

if your rims are the 2001-002 then they will not match with the aftermarkets. IMO they are drastically different. Aftermarket is smooth and shinny and OEM is more green, and Textured.


Why don't you just buy the tires and rims from cruzinconcepts? They will mount them and balance them for free.

Sounds like your local shop has never messed with it and doesnt want to be held responsible. HOWEVER, people are running the same thing everywhere. As far as what 315/35's to run is all personal prefrence and how much you want to spend. The cheapest I have found were the Sumitomos running around $200 a piece. That is unless your wanting to run a drag radial, then the prices go up. Tire Discounters will do the work, and Im not sure of any other chains that will.

200 a piece? maybe 115 to 123 each shipped. depends on the day you order them from CJ Pony Parts - Ford Mustang Parts and am is around 130 each shipped.if its just a dd then sumo's will be fine but if your looking to go to the drag strip then look for some nitto's or bfg's

He's full of crap. It's all about backspacing. I've run 315/35-17s on 10.5"" wheels. Lots of people have. You don't have IRS so you don't even have to turn your quad shocks around. They should fit just fine.
