well it will be making power but its not enough like say the next gear at a lower rpm will actually be faster than riding out that gear. But idk about that, you'd have to ask a boosted guy. You said you have cams, so with your springs i have no idea... you'll hav to ask someone else. I just know with stock springs and cams you wouldn't want to turn that high as of risk of floating a valve. These motors aren't built to turn that high of rpms from the factory.
 
Eventually the power is going to decrease... i understand what you're saying but you'll also run out of gear and do not want to break something. Lol i'm probably sounding like a dumbass, i'm tired as hell :sorry But riding a car out into 7k rpms can actually be slower instead of shifting at around 6.2k rpms and hitting the next gear at 4.5k rpms. It just depends, idk lol... you should have a feel for your car and where you need to shift, instead of riding it out to a high rpm you just shift on instinct because you can feel that not shifting is actually slower.
 
Okay now that you said that Eagle and Unix, do you think I should just put mine at like 6800? Ive bounced off the rev limiter a few times in 1st gear only. And over-revving is better then hitting the rev-limiter.

Plus If I do that, that would allow me to go through the traps with stock tire size. Yes? no? Id only rev it past 6300rpm if I A) Missshift, or B) am going through the traps on stock tire size.
I would be uncomfortable pushing stock valve springs and rods that far. I've once read about a guy who pushed his motor to 7000 rpms. It didn't hold together. I don't remember if a valve hit a piston or he spun a bearing. Both are possible.
 
Yeah, rev limiter is there for a reason. You could bounce off of it all day and not **** anything up unless it over heats. It doesn't cut fuel, why would factory do that? It cuts combustion, not fuel. Now over reving it is WAY worse than hitting the limiter, thats what the limiter is there to stop. You'll float your valves and detonate your engine. Lol, turning 7k is not good on your engine at all, i don't think 6.5k is... thats pretty far into it, plus there is not point in turning that kind of rpm, your car won't make power up into that range so its really pointless.
then why do tuners move the rev limiter up out of the way to avoid hitting it if it makes no difference???

Because people usually get annoyed by it, or if they have a build for a higher reving engine. Its to get it out of the way for the builder because this is for race tunes right? Usually race cars can push higher, but for stock internals i'm just saying that the rev limiter is for safety.

Agreed, but if I set my rev limiter at 6,800rpm, the only way Id ever go past 6,300rpm is if I miss shift, and going through the traps, probally about 6,500 with 4.10's and stock tires. My tuner rev'd mine til 6400rpm
