If anybody could help me with this issue I'd appreciate it a bunch...

So I bought a DiabloSport tuner a couple months back and put the 93 Octane tune on my car. Well I was under the impression that the tuner would be able to 'turn off' the code that is thrown for me not having any cats due to my Pypes Off-Road Xpipe. However I learned (the hard way) that the new version of the software doesn't have provisions to disable the code. So I got an older .crom file from a fellow member to upload to the tuner so that I could disable the code. HOWEVER, the DSDownloader software does not recognize a .crom file extension as a type of tune file. All it recognizes is:

.frg
.frd
.drg
.drd
.grg
.grd
.lan
.2cl
.crg

Is there a way to turn the .crom file that I have into one of these extensions? Or maybe is there a way to make the DSDownloader software recognize a .crom file? I'm due for new plates/registration in 8 days (I procrastinated a bit... I know :( ) so I need a solution to this ASAP. Any/all help is highly appreciated.

Thanks guys

...and sorry if I'm being too much of a n00b

what version do you have installed on your diablosport? I'm pretty sure I have the latest version and it DOES allow me to turn off the code?

Are you saying you have a check engine light you can't turn off or you can turn the light off but the emissions check can still see it as a problem?

nope, they earlier versions allowed you to and the new verions do not because of emissions reasons. The companies got sick of dealing with EPA and other groups. If you have a new version you are pretty much screwed and have to get an email tune to shut it off

Im saying i cant turn the cel off, i have almost a brand new version which doesnt allow you to do that, i was pointed in the direction of getting the ds downloader then downloading an old crom file to put into my new tuner. But at this point the ds downloader doesnt apparently find .crom files. only .frg
.frd
.drg
.drd
.grg
.grd
.lan
.2cl
.crg

extensions. So lost on what to do now, so scared......

No problem man, but there is fixes out there because people have to get emissions with the pipes all the time. People have found ways around it, i just need it explained to me :(

with my O/R X when I had it I never had a CEL come on at all

I wonder why this is such a hit miss issue :dunno.

Seems like some get o/r pipe get code right away

Others it takes a bit

Others its a come/go thing

Others dont get a code at all

Im in the same boat as you. Never had anything to turn off rear o2's in the tune, never got a code. I have it turned off now for the sake of doing so, but before it never happened.

same here. When i had my email tune written for the LTs then i finally had the rear o2s shut off and that was after running an o/r x for 3 years

For what its worth, the crom files are used in DSDownloader in the Express tune Mode. Once there click on Update Tool. It will then allow you to browse to your crom file.
DiabloSport may have hooked you up with what you need. The crom file is not a tune. It is the software that the Predator runs. Looks like they sent you an older one. Which should allow you to modify your car to turn your o2s off. Having said that, I tried to do the same thing. Got an old crom file, and tried to "update" my predator but got an error message saying that I couldnt go back to a really old version (prob to prevent people from being able to turn off their o2 sensors)
I would be interested to know if it works for you.

I never got a code for my bbk x-pipe.

I was wondering. If i borrow a friends tuner could i back the timing down on my car and then give back the tuner??

Quit being a cheap ass and get/buy a mail order tune. Whats another $50 gonna hurt? And people wonder why the auto business is in such a dump.
You could try not being a dick, cause if it was a $50 problem I would have done that already, I have an emailed crom file but am having problems downloading it.

It seems as if I'm going to have to just throw the tune on the car and since it takes awhile for cel to come on, hope they pass it before it does.

:(
Thanks anyway for trying to help

I just don't get how all of you get these pipes that Eliminate the cats and have no problem dealing with emissions, just wish things could be as easy for me. Really puts a damper on any future modding :(

We DO have problems w/ emissions. The fix is called swapping in the stock mid. Where exactly are you from bro? You can get a set of MIL eliminators to cure this, but they sometimes don't work (like mine :()
