if your at 40 then second gear definitely would have gave you a nice advantage...50 isn't to bad for 3rd
not with theses tires lol. 2nd gear punch = burnout every time

you shouldn't be worried about corvettes, you should be worried about awd 4 bangers with a big turbo

yeah I know dude its just sad to watch your prized race horse loose a race lol U know what Im sayin. I guess I do got something to build for now.... I need to figure out what 02 z06's run at the 1/4 mile.... and beat it
a quick search came up with 12.6 as the stock # for a '02 zo6.
a properly prepaired (ie. proper drag mods to susp/etc) new edge car can pretty much cover that with very minor bolt ons.
now you see why a properly set up car is soo important? a new edge car with 400+ rwhp should be very deep in the 11's (high 10's on a good day) IF set up properly.
you can't have both though, a car that works well at the track isn't something to re-live the "fast & furious" high light video at the sat. night roll races with the teenagers.

theres always gonna be a faster car out there man, thats why you gotta buy a car you can take pride in with other qualities besides speed
thank god I love the interior then.... lol

i love my car overall

ive raced it once, and i only race friends, so i really dont have the need for speed, i mostly just give my friends rides and go out for cruises/hot rod for the thrill

and the fact i get comments "hey nice car" or "i love the yellow" it makes it worth having

a corvettes are fast but look worse than a damn smart car your stang is fine

hey bro you did fine. your both very close in numbers and hes lighter and probably putting more to the ground. but i dont really see spending 10 grand no effence and not building the bottom end, if i were you id deff look at forgeing it and up the boost, flsfcs, sticky tires and lcas and driver mod like stated above and i can guarentee your have the golden dick again haha good race though man those c5zo6s are no joke there quick.

he is ~3200 lbs w/ driver+full tank (2980 w/out driver)

He is making 386 rwhp.

I did start in third though... but honestly I cant start in a lower gear because of these tires.... do you think that traction will honestly make this car "faster"? Because I honestly feel that first and second gear cannot get my car physically fast enough for 3rd gear (due to the tires just spin)... what do you think?
Yes. More power isn't going to do you any good because you can't use the power you already have. Your car has over 400 rwhp, is lowered with stiffer springs (less weight transfer) and has 4.10 gears. I can see why you have traction problems.

You need to get the best tires you can for your driving conditions. What I mean is don't get drag radials if you have to drive on them in cold weather or heavy rains. A good summer tire only if you never drive in the snow. A bigger tire diameter will water down the 4.10s a bit. For example, a 255/50-17 is 5.25% bigger (diameter) than a 245/45-17. It would make your 4.10s feel more like 3.90s and give you a 5.25% higher top end in 4th.

Tires and throttle control might make the difference. If not then try LCAs. If that doesn't work you'll need a higher gear like 3.73s.

You did good though. A few tweaks here and there and you'll beat him next time.

Take a look at my garage.

My car makes about the same rwhp as yours.

I get full traction in second gear on the street.

My car pulls like a mother from 4500-6400 rpms.

I ran a 12.23 last night at the strip, and I still haven't really learned to drive the car with the Vortech in it yet.

Z06's will run mid-11s with an average driver and good tires.

My car hooks on the street also...in 1st gear. I have to get the speed up to 25-30 mph and it's on. I'm running 275/40 nitto dr's on the street.

Made 367/372 on 14psi. Changed to a fully ported and polished lower and lost a couple psi then pullied it back up to 15psi. I have GOT to be over 400 now.

My suspension is very little...it just works well together.

If your spining you need to put a better tire on it...and thats the bottom line.
